Rhythmic Vibration at Idle in Gear, anyone else notice this?
Was sitting in traffic stopped with my hand on the passenger headrest and felt this strong rhythmic vibration every few seconds shaking the entire passenger seat. Of course I thought it was the bass on the radio so I turned that off but still felt it. Once I noticed it I could feel it in my drivers seat also. If I put it in nuetral it's much less but it's still there. It was there everytime I came to an idle. I'm not so concerned but now that I noticed it's sort of annoying. Anyone else notice this, anything to worry about. Just noticed it today so I'll see if it comes back. It a Sport AT, I'm loving everything about this car just want to make sure everything is OK! Thx fellow fitfreaks!

Hi DRum, the AC was not on. I driven lots of autos so I know you will get engine vibration on an AT but what was wierd is that it was so strong and was like every two seconds and shaking the passenger seat big time. I'm thinking a new tank of fuel was causing something, I'm going to check and make sure they put the gas cap on tight also, thx...

There was something on the CBS National News this week about repair/service stations reporting many more general engine problems lately - maybe because of poorer grade gas? Something is happening!
YMMV...

I just filled up, I wonder if the ECU is detecting a poor quality fuel and is resetiing the fuel mixture? I used a non-name brand fuel but the station fuel has always been fine in my other vehicles. I'm going to see if things smooth out and I will try another gas station once I run this batch down, thx for the heads-up!

Yes, was fully warmed up had driven about 10 miles, stopped filled up the tank and noticed the vibration on idle. Just don't know for sure if this fill-up caused the issue. I know I had said to myself the other day how smooth the idle was on the FIT so I'm thinking this new tank of fuel is the culprit. I'm going to monitor it see whats up.

I think I know whats going on..
I only noticed this vibration when in drive, stuck in traffic and my hand on the passenger side head rest, with the car fully warmed up. Not on initial start-up while the car is idling faster. I do not feel it in the steering wheel but now that I noticed it on the passenger head-rest I feel it in my drivers seat also. It looks like it has to do with the RPM's at idle. I am idling at about 700rpm in drive and stopped. If while in drive with my foot on the brake I give it some gas and get the RPM's up a bit to like 900- 1000 then there is no rhythm to the vibration it's just a typical constant idle type vibration. So maybe my idle is just set a little low. I guess with the price of fuel I should just live with it and see if it smooths out over time. What do you fellow Fit-Freaks think?

Could it be the fans noise/vibration? I was showing the car off to a buddy after a long trip, and during the conversation we heard a noise and felt a slight vibration which paused our conversation. It was the fan coming on. So that’s normal.

I don't usually see my RPM at idle lower than 800. Do you hear any pinging from the engine? I have an AT and my car doesn't shake at idle. I notice a little popping when the engine is cold but that is normal as the fuel doesn't burn as readily.

No pinging that I am aware of. While no one is in the passenger seat, the car is warmed up, rest you hand on the front passenger seat headrest while the car is in drive, your foot on the brake. That's where I noticed the on off vibration.
