Having experience driving both the Fit and the R2 I'd go with the Fit (I'm an ex-Subaru employee, too). The R2 is one of the most cramped and ergonomically awful cars I've driven in years. It would be great if they'd change a lot of things about it. The one cool thing is HID headlights standard. That's a nice feature to have on a 'cheap' car. Subaru lately has gotten themselves a bit 'puffed up' and are ramming their prices through the ceiling. It's a sad situation.
