headlights too low??

Just recently got a fit myself, I have had no issues so far driving at night. Although so far I have had fog lamps on with them as well. I'll try them without next time I go night driving.

I suspect that Honda errs on the side of "politeness" when it comes to headlamp aiming from the factory, so as not to offend other drivers in the city.

you can get brighter bulbs but they don't last as long.

I read that cars sold in the US have crappy headlights in general.

I read that too, but my wife's Accord has better lights than my Fit. As was mentioned, brighter bulbs help but don't last as long. I added a pair of driving lights in the grill which help some. It's too easy to outdrive your lights. Not much other choice but to go slower.
