Plasic residue on roof from Shipping from Japan

Picked up our new 09 Fit Sport from the Dealer last month. After close inspection at home, we noticed several area's on the roof that had leftover plastic residue adhering to the paint. We've tried everything to get this stuff off,( goo- b gone, WD-40, and lighter fluid. Nothing. The dealer who is 50 miles away said it's leftover from the plastic they encase the car in for shipping. Any suggestions for removing this stuff that won't damage the paint?

I assume you don't feel inclined to return to the dealer in question? Have you asked them what they use to remove this? Honestly, my inclination would be to return to them and point out you've paid directly or indirectly for "dealer prep" and they didn't do it adequately. Alternatively, you might contact Honda and ask if you could take it to a more local dealer (although I think the answer would be it's down to the original dealer to fix it).

I wouldn't be inclined to do it myself (although detailing clay might get it off).

I had the same thing on my car especially by the rubber strips on the roof, I used a clay bar and then some cleaner wax to get it off. Just be careful not to rub to hard and damage your paint.

I would contact the dealer or honda in general. 50miles isn't a lot considering you don't want nasty things on your new car.

yep, i'd let the dealer finish their work, give you a car wash, free bottle of washer fluid, and complimentary snack/drink. (might want to skip the car wash if you care about your paint. lol)

I'd rather just do it myself then hassle going to a dealer and waiting a few hours for them to do 10min of work.
But to each their own.

Clay bar, or try mr clean magic eraser+rubbing alcohol(this is slightly abrasive)

water and some scrubbing should get it off. If anything take a blow dryer to it it it will come off easy.

Clay bar and lube will remove the residue.

Some Spray9 and a microfiber towel with warm water will take it off in seconds, but warm water and a really soft cloth will work well like JDMchris said, it will just take a little more elbow grease
