Official locking gas cap?

The locking gas cap posted on some Honda part websites is the same as the Honda Element:

17680-SAA-G00Honda Element Locking Gas Cap

Fit's parts : http://www.collegehillshonda.com/hon...s/exterior.htm

Can anyone confirm that this gas cap, the one that is for the Element, but they say works for the Fit, actually works? Someone mentioned here that it does not fit, another person says it does.

Does anyone have it in the US?

Thanks!

With the UK version the flap locks when you lock the car - all part of the keyless central locking. Presumably not the same in US?

that means we will have to have different keys for the door and the gas cap.

which is only available on the 1.4 .

1.2 base only got central locking. I fixed that by getting aftermarket alarm fitted At least all doors have the locking motor.

Is it the same part number as listed above?
Also, can you confirm that the keys are full size?

I tried an "aftermarket" locking gas cap from another car in our household and it works and fits fine. I really don't think there is any problem with using a non-honda gas cap It's also way cheaper and the the key is nice and tiny (like that on a tool chest).

Any opinions?

that is the correct part number, and key is a full size one, however you can probalby have you gas cap re-keyed to match you regular car key.

The gas flap on the U.S. Fit does not lock. You have to buy a locking gas cap if you want to protect your fuel tank.

525.00 without installation, dear god tah tis price gouging, and there is no way they can make you pay that much, mainly since it list for $369.00, that price would ahve to include labor, hell you can get a cat back for cheaper and actually get some power gains for the cost, lol.

Cool locking gas cap for 2007 Honda Fit

I found locking gas cap at Canadian Tire Vancouver by searching part numbers that were identical for the 2007 cars...Chevy cavalier cap fits perfectly and works fine and no untoward actions of computers etc etc. Almost an identical venting cap. Thanks though for the part information because that is exactly what happened to me...Honda didn't have a record of the cap at all.
