2. yeah, that does need to be added
3. that would be nice,
4. ehh, how much more storage do you need in this car
5. would be nice, but would add more weight, and to the top of the car
6. not really needed
7. those are becoming less and less common
8 those are on the Japan and Europe models, i dont see the big deal
9. un-needed for this small car
10. cool, but expensive option
11. yeah i could see that
12. no
13. i like manual adjustment, you can adjust it more precisley
14 never got into it
15. why? I always wondered why people want those
16. that would be nice on the sport models
17. never liked CD changers, and with the MP3 player jack, you dont really need one
18. rear breaks do likw 2%-10% of the braking, and on such a light car, you wouldn't really need them, still i'd never say no to better braking
I'd say
1. Limited Slip or AWD
2. 6-Speed transmission on Sport Manual models
3. HFP optional suspension package
4. 15 gallon tank
5. an option for a more powerful motor, maybe not a K20 (that'd be nice) but say a 130 horsepower motor? Or a DOHC motor
but for an entry level car, i'm pretty happy with mine

Some comments:
1.Lock Gas Cap--we may see it in the new model.
2.Dead Pedal--we may see it in the new model.
3.Tilt and Telescopic Steering Column--will be available in new model on premium versions of the car.
4.Center Console with Armrest and Storage Compartments--we may see it in the new model.
5.Power Moonroof with Tilt Feature--we may see it as an option on the premium versions of the car.
6.Variable Intermittent Windshield Wipers--not likely for cost reasons.
7.High-Intensity Discharge Headlights--not likely for cost reasons, especially if they're xenon HID units. But we may see blue-color bulb headlights, though.
8.LED Taillights--possible if the cost is low enough.
9.Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control System--not likely for most world markets due to high cost of such a unit.
10.Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with Voice Recognition--we may see it on the premium versions of the car.
11.Map Lights--very likely on the new version of the car.
12.Leather Seats--not likely for cost reasons and due to the intended market for the car. However, we will see better-quality seat materials, though.
13.Driver and Front Passage's Seat with Power Adjustment--not likely due to cost and weight penalty. We could see manual height adjustment, though.
14.Heated Front Seats--not likely due to cost of option.
14.XM® Satellite Radio--possibly available with premium versions of the car.
15.Exterior Temperature Indicator--not likely.
16.Aluminum Pedals--not likely.
17.6-Disc In-Dash Changer--possible on premium versions of the car.
18.Rear Disc Brake--possible on premium versions of the car.
I do think we'll see the following though:
1. Body size will be very close to that of the current car in deference to Japanese and European urban driving environments.
2. Transmission choices will be six-speed manual and a new CVT automatic designed specifically for American driving styles.
3. Engine choices will be 1.4-liter i-DSI (rated at 84 bhp SAE 08/04 net), 1.6-liter i-DSI (rated at 92 bhp SAE 08/04 net) and 1.6-liter SOHC i-VTEC (rated at 117-120 bhp SAE 08/04 net). The 1.6-liter i-DSI could be available in North America along with the expected SOHC i-VTEC engine.

My husband really misses a arm rest, yes an arn rest would be good but only because we are used to having one. I would like the headlights to throw out more lite on the road.

Those are all great goodies, but I don't want to have to pay for all them either. I also think it's great when entrepenuers can come out with great after market add ons to fill these voids, and often at better than dealer prices -- which does not seem to be hard to do.
The only extra I bought for my Fit, is the rear tonneau (I think that's what it's called?) cover to conceal the items behind the back seat. This comes standard with the sport model, but I do think it should be a standard item on all models. It's a pricey item but well designed (spring loaded) and can be removed in a jiffy without any annoying strings or cables in the way.
To Honda:
Well done guys! I love both my Fit and my Accord, and should have bought a Honda years ago!
Later,
Bill

Really? I was told that this cover was a part of the standard Sport package -- maybe you should ask your dealer, or perhaps they put the packages together differently depending on where the Fit is sold?
But, seems to me that the cost of the Sport upgrade package should include all the bells and whistles since it's as far as you can go with the models available.
My 2 cents worth.

Oh, I forgot about that -- they did give me a set of free Fit floor mats although they are a bit of a pain to install, and a 4 day Cruise departing from either Florida or California -- but you have to find your own way down there.
Gee, maybe I paid too much or something? Or maybe it was cause I had bought the Accord a few months earlier? Mind you, I had to fight to get some snow tires and rims thrown in on my Accord deal, and I almost walked out. But they came through in the end and made the deal.
Later,
Bill
PS: The 4 day cruise thing was available for any new car purchase as a bonus, and a buddy of mine still got it with the new Fit he just picked up last week. It's a dealer incentive -- not supplied by Honda.

Wow, you got yourself a nice deal there.
I had to buy my cargo cover and all weather floormat on my own. But those items are a MUST for any car that I own. Too bad...
I'd really like an armrest, a lockable glovebox, map light or some kinda of overhead storage. Other than that, I'm happy with what I paid for.

i don't know if anyone has requested this yet, but the installation of a dead pedal from the factory would be a plus. i don't own a Fit yet, but i've noticed a lot of Fit owners complaining about the lack of this item.
thanks,

I *wish* to have these:
1. Passenger side lock/unlock button.
2. Heated mirrors
3. Dead pedal
4. Door automatically lock after engaged in "D".
Maybe all these are already included in a Civic and I bet Civic owners wants hatchback/magic seats too.

5. Locking Gas Cap (its needed in this area)
6. 6 speed manual (sport only)
7. Rear Disc Brakes (opt. only)
8. Center Console w/ Armrest (standard on all models)
and you have my perfect choice for a Fit. The rear disc brakes should be a dealer option due to the fact that unless you are hauling alot of stuff in the rear of the car (or a trailer ) you wont feel the difference between the current rear drums and the "new" rear discs. Besides, rear drums have their advantage... you don't have to change them as often as discs.
Also note, rear brakes are usually used for the emergency brake as well. Designing a rear disc w/ emer drum will drive up costs due to RnD. And don't give me the, use it from another car, thing. I do believe Honda is going away from this, and I for 1, am glad.
edit: for those of you wanting all of the things (or most) from the 1st post... think about this. The dealer will charge you out the arse for this stuff than if you add it in later. So you arent good at modifying a car? I know of some local shops that will add-in different lights (both headlamp and tail) for a minimal charge. Much cheaper than the dealer, and they stand behind their work.
Also note... My Fit Sport AT didn't come with the cargo cover. This is a dealer option only I was informed. I looked at the full list of options for our Fits... There's more than meets the eye.

Maybe also let us poor Canucks to have the white Fit. Honda thinks that Canada got snow at least 350 days/year and white is just unsafe to drive in snowy weather? :P

Some things that WON'T cost Honda or buyers a lot of money:
1. Reorganize the AC knob a bit more logically, i.e. far left = floor, top = vents, far right = defrost. Like a natural progression.
2. Dead pedal.
3. Tilt/Telescope steering wheel - (A bit expensive, but .. PLEASE!)
4. Intermittent switch added to the wipers.
5. Outside thermometer/digital compass - unnecessary but really nice and a cheap add-on.
6. A CD player that scrolls the song titles. Instead of just showing “Flesh for Fa” and “Another Bric”.
7. Cable for throttle (this video game feel with the pedal is driving me nuts)
OH!
8. Better responding receiver for the key/remote! I feel like the receiving unit is a three year old that I have to push ... the ... buttons ... slowly to get to respond (all doors unlocked, horn to sound for secure, etc.) I hate to compare to a Ford, but as fast as you can push the buttons, theirs is right there with you.
AND
9. PLEASE, please let Texas have a WHITE paint option! It get's %&@kin' hot here!
