Well must be someone in the family that did it.

Why do you have a car with no plates? How did you get the car into your garage with no plates? How did dealer get to look at it if it is in your garage? Just curious.

I would assume that they mean that they don't have their permanent tags/plates yet.. just the temporary paper ones that probably give them a month or so...

I put a pretty ugly scratch in black paint with my key once. My dad took one look at it and went into the house to get the bottle of Meguiar's car polish. It takes ALOT of elbow grease and a ton of flipping and folding the cloth you're using, but it took the scratch right out. I'm not promising a fix, but it's the best way I know of removing scratches.

Someone whacked my poor fit the other day, so I've got to go back out there and touch up the paint chip.

if your run your nail over the scratch and it catches, chances are you wont be able to buff it out. also if you see primer then obviously it's too deep.

your dealer should have an airbrush touchup crew fixing their used cars. that might be the way to go to get about 90% fix.

if you want it fixed completely you'll need to have the whole hood repaired and painted. is that your garage at home or a parking structure?

could be some a-hole key'ed your new car. ive had that happen
on several of my cars in the past that were parked at the shopping center. i just left it as is cause it was my daily driver.

Scratch

Is it such that you could put a decal over it? I saw a black Fit Sport this morning with a couple decals on it - to nice effect.

dammit

Yes when i run my nail over it, it catches... i guess i'll have to live with it for now since i dont want to pay the extra to get it fixed. And im pretty sure the one who did it is my lovely mother who goes into the garage for laundry and my car was parked right infront of the laundry machines...

And maybe if i did put a huge bandaid decal it'l look pretty cool. haha

I've got 2 minor scratches vertically traveling on my drivers side door. I also have a scratch that runs from my drivers side headlight right down to the fender and off. I got that the first day I parked at one of my job's parking lots. I came out after work and found a shopping cart laying sideways next to it. When I saw the cart I had a bad feeling and just like I thought, damage. Bastards have no respect for anything. Now I park way far away from everybody. My car is black too, it sucks.

I'll bet she set the laundry basket on the hood so she could fill it with clothes from the dryer. Ask her nicely not to do that again.

Even if the scratch goes down to the primer, get a bottle of touch up paint.

Then it's up to you. You can DIY to give it a shot. Or if you want pro help, go to a body/paint shop and let the pros give it a go (check yelp around your area for a recommendation). Estimates are free.

Have you tried Meguiers Scratch X - it may improve it some - tell your entire family that the Honda Fit paint is soft and easy to scratch - they can't do things to the Fit like they would do with any other car in the garage.
