Idea about oil changes
Hey,
i was thinking about the oil change talk; People are saying that you should wait until 5K to change the oil becuase of the sealers and additives Honda supposivly puts in.
I think at 1k I will change just the oil filter, not the oil. Yes I might have to add a tiny amount, but I think this way I get some of the little metal shaving out.
Thoughts Anyone

Just changing the filter won't help. Any metal shavings in the filter are in the filter and won't hurt the motor. If the stuff gets to the filter that is the best place for it. Changing the filter won't hurt anything and if you want to do it.

its not the engineers its just after the break in period (for some people) they would rather change the oil b4 5k miles...i am not a hardcore mechanic, but i asked my friend who is a certified mechanic for AUDI...but he works on exotics...he told me i should change it at 1500 miles...especially that i am the guy driving it hard...so its pretty much up to the person and there car

Break-in tip....
Worried about metal shavings from manufacturing and break-in? Try putting a strong magnet on the oilpan near the drainplug. This will catch the shavings and hold them till the oil change. Simply remove the magnet before removing the drain plug.
You can buy replacement drainplugs with a magnet in it as well. Have seen magnets that wrap around oil filters too but think it does better in the pan.
