I agree with you 100%.... If anything you do is hurting you, your body is telling you not to do it and in time it'll catch up with you... The only positive thing about not listening is that you will be able to know it is going to rain 24 hours before the weatherman on TV says it will...

I don't know you and don't care what you do, but you should know that Vitamin B12 comes from animal protein, like meat and dairy products. Your stomach acid separates B12 from protein. Age causes a decrease in the production of stomach acid (you make 1/2 the stomach acid at age 50 that you made at age 16). Nexium cuts the production of stomach acid even further to prevent GERD.

A Vitamin B12 deficiency causes fatigue, depression, confusion, and lower cognitive ability. But no one could tell that from your writing style, so no biggie. The problem is, if you develop cognitive problems from low Vitamin B12 and don't fix it right away with supplements, the cognitive damage becomes permanent and irreversible. That means, you STAY stupid. Try to prevent that.

I have been up and down as far as gaining and losing weight.. I have to take morphine and other stuff for chronic pain and will need to until I am dead and gone.. I was prescribed staten drugs to lower my cholesterol and the stuff nearly killed me and people noticed it and thought I was a goner.. I got off of that crap a few years ago and have been taking krill oil and recently vitamin D which is making a positive difference in my thinking and my memory is getting better but it has been taking a long time... I now weigh 180lbs but have been 20 pounds lighter and at one time 100 lbs heavier.. I would be much better off if I could still get out and walk a few miles or ride a bike everyday... I just bought an expensive 35cc Subaru Robin 4stroke motor, transmission, heavy duty rear wheel and all of the stuff to install it all on a bicycle.. I figure since I live between 2 hills that my weakening old body can't get up on a bike I should be able to when it all is together and I can pedal when I want to and if I wear myself out I can still make it back home.. I was riding 60 to 90 miles a day when I weighed about 240 in 100 degree heat and commuting 13 miles to and from work on a single speed beach cruiser every day but that was about 21 years ago... Treskelion has given some decent info about vitamin B-12. I swear that the less prescription medication I have to take the better I feel and vitamin deficiency is a real problem for most everybody these days.. You can't get decent healthy food unless you are able to buy heritage seeds to plant vegetables and raise chickens that forage for food and free ranging livestock... I have the land, an all wheel drive 38 hp Kubota tractor and implements and fencing but I have pretty much worn my body out... I sometimes think I should sell it all and move to Central or South America where Monsanto isn't allowed to poison people with GMO foods and high fructose corn syrup...

Tell me where you can get a decent price on B-12 that really works online.. For years I have read that the big pharmaceutical companies are trying to have vitamins and supplements categorized as prescription only drugs.. Damn corporations begin poisoning everyone with medications and vecinations from birth, make them need insurance on everything they own including themselves and then only pay to have doctors half assed treat symptoms until they die.. It is getting worse all most every day.

Here you go--- I buy the NOW brand of B-12 at a local health food store, and take two 1000 mcg. tablets per day. All of the brands in this link are highly rated and low priced. The NOW tablets are chewable, tiny, and taste great.

Sorry TC, I can't agree with most of your rant. I am older than you, and have had a deadly disease (Diabetes) since the age of three. Statistically, I should have died sometime in the '70s. But I picked my education and professions carefully, and maintained good health insurance knowing that I would NEED it. I am healthy because I work at it and because my insurance pays most of the cost of my prescription drugs. I pay $550.00 per month in insurance premiums, but based on the retail cost of my required drugs and medical supplies, the premiums are a bargain. Just ONE of my prescription drugs would cost $1K per 90-day supply, and a 90-day order of Insulin would retail for $985.00 (I just ordered it and my only cost is $30.00).

There is no danger that vitamins and supplements will become prescription-only drugs. The FDA can't keep up with the prescription meds as it is. The danger is that since supplements are not FDA regulated, they come into the U.S. from all over the world, and many are poorly made with a lot of contamination. The average pill-popper is in more danger of overdosing on cheap supplements that he does not need, or that do not work because they are counterfeit, based on scam ads on the Internet and on TV.

Too much potassium will stop your heart, as will many other supposedly "good" and "natural" substances. Too much Vitamin D won't hurt you, and neither will too much B-12. But taking too much won't do you any good either--- just waste your money.
