Question about the paddle shifters

I recently purchased a Fit Sport AT. During the testdrive, my salesman told me i was supposed to let off the gas before i shifted gears with the paddle shifters. However, i looked in the owners manual and didn't see any mention of this one way or the other.

So do i have to do that, or can i just keep my foot on the gas while i shift?

Thanks,
Azanon

Just shift it when you want. You don't have to take your foot off the gas. What you are doing is manually controlling an automatic transmission - which, as you know, you don't have to take your foot off of the gas to shift.

Just have fun!!

yup, no need to lift off the throttle, the clutch packs inside the tranny will slowly engage while it shifts. you can try shifting with a little throttle lifting, the clutches engage faster this way and creates the manual shifting feel to the car.

Do the + and - icons on the paddles light up with the parking or headlights on? Can't tell in the photos...I don't think they do, but am curious...anone with a Sport Auto please let me know. Thanks
