I've been playing it safe and leaving the Fit parked through this weeks events. I just don't want to gamble on losing my undercar plastic at speed, as I know what it can turn out like.

My undercarriage is now gone. Is this a danger to brake functioning or integrity of the front end? I am trying to decide whether to have it replaced or let it stay naked. Thoughts?

It's alright to drive without the splash shield, but I'd get it replaced if you live in a rainy place, driving in a puddle might get water on the alternator or some other electronics - even though these items (and almost everything in the engine bay) are quite water resistant, failures do happen.

It might effect your MPG due to the increased air resistance which the splash shield used to deflect. Fairly cheap part, get it replaced if you can. It won't hamper integrity or brake function. It's just a plastic deflector/shield.

Thank you for your reply. It is helpful. Since I live in sunny FLA now heading for the rainy season I will consider fixing the issue. Car is 2007 and I plan on keeping it for a few more years. It is incredibly reliable and low maintenance except for pulling in too far to parking spots and having the front end maligned by the slab of concrete.
