Just a general tire question
#2
I run on General Altimax HP 205/50/16 with Enkei RPF1s. I banked $5k miles on it. I'm impressed by its performance on heavy thunderstorms (the ones where they issue flood warnings). It's better overall than my Civic's Bridgestone Potenza. But the ride is the roughest. I'm looking forward to seeing them in action this coming winter.

Yeah, TireRack.com has good reviews on the Goodyears. I encounter heavy snow in the Canadian winters as well, but I do use a set of Toyo winter tires. When I do decide to get either the Altimax or the Assurances, they're only gonna be subjected to light snow. I think I'm leaning towards the Assurances more than the Altimax from the reviews I've read on TireRack.com.

Hi all! I have general tire question, My 09' GE8 original wheel and tires that it came with is 185/55/16, also I am getting an AVG of 29 mpg.
1) Is 205/50/16 the largest tire size that will fit?
2) Would 205/55/16 be too much, and would the tires rub againist the wheel well ? I like to hard corner.
3) I get 29 mpg, now, would there be any loss of mpg? How much do you think?

I have 195 65 15 altimax on my jetta. they are the bomb-diggity. but I don't drive in the snow unless i have snow tires. (firestone winterforces are the super bomb-diggity)
the potenzas are terrible. something like 4/10 on tire rack. also, bridgestone's duellers with like 3.8/10. I'm not a tire buff, but I'm going to stay away from bridgestones.
