Costco auto savings?

Costco auto savings?
Does anyone know the costco auto savings for a base fit manual? I have heard it isn't a lot. There aren't any Costco stores near by so I hesitate to buy membership just to find out the price savings... thanks

I just purchased a '09 Sport AT and took a look at the Costco price book for the Auto program. For my dealer, the discount was only $250 below MSRP. I don't know if all the Costco pricing is the same for every dealer.
One word of caution - if you have any contact with a salesman, and then try to go through the Costco program, the contact for the Costco program (different person than the sales guys) will not work with you, since they work on salary and the sales guys work on commission. I had already spoke to a sales guy, then called the Costco authorized contact. He told me that if I wanted the Costco pricing, I would have to wait at least 30 days, then he could work with me.
I went back to the dealer, mentioned the Costco program - and they then gave me the Costco price - the salesman also came out with the actual invoice for the fit, along with the Costco price book and showed me how much they make on it. He said that the profit margin is very slim on the fits. (of course the invoice price did not show any dealer incentives or programs to cut dealer costs direct from Honda)
All things said and done, we may go back and purchase another fit, we like it so much!

I got a referral from Costco to a dealership and they quoted the Costco price as $14310 for a base MT, which is less than $100 over invoice (I think) which seems pretty good. Do you think it is a good price? Reading the price forums it seemed good, but most seem to be buying the sport model. I am planning to use the cash for clunkers program.
thanks for the help

I think the Costco program makes it really easy to buy. That sounds like a good price, and you don't have to haggle. That alone takes the stress out of buying. Just don't get suckered by the finance guy, trying to load all the extra's.....

Have people done much better than $100 below invoice? It is really $800 below invoice because the $710 destination fee has also been dropped. I saw a post from a fellow in Maryland whose father was quoted something like $13000 for a base MT ($1,200 below invoice?) but that was a quote not an actual purchase. (Post was in "what I paid for my fit" thread.)

I used the Costco program after getting jerked around at another dealer. I spoke with the Costco agent at a different dealer, walked in at my appointment time, checked out the car (didn't need to test drive it) and got to the paper work. They gave me about $800 below invoice, which was incredible compared to what the other dealer was trying to do.
It was really nice because they even let me chose if I wanted the dealer "options" that aren't always options, and the options were cheaper. The only one I went for was the clear coat, because it was only $300 more and is worth it in my opinion. I'll certainly use it next time.

I went to a Costco authorized dealer and was quoted $18858 for a Sport/auto/nav. I did like that the dealer offered savings on the accessories. Like if you bought one get 10% off, buy 2 get 15% off, buy 3 or more its 20% off each.
But was quoted $18847 /inc dest. through a basic internet inquiry.

Sorry to bump an old thread.. but I just got Costco Pricing for an '09 Fit Sport w/ Rear Bumper Applique, All-Season Floor Mats & All-Season Cargo Tray. *($300 package for the accessories) bringing the sticker to 18088.
$17171 was the Costco pricing. $917 off sticker.
Maybe the pricing is more aggressive b/c of the accessories give them that extra bit of profit. Either way. A good price on the FIT and you don't hassle to get to this price. You show your costco card. They show you all the invoice and yadidida paper work others referred to and then you're done.

I tried to do the costco dealio..
I got an 'internet price' from a referral/request through the costco site that was the best email price that I got from anywhere, although that dealer was too far to really go to. -- It wasn't the full deal so I don't know how much it would have been in total with all the various fees, etc. Perhaps I should have called them for more details but we really didn't want to venture so far.
I actually went in person to another costco dealer, and the way they treated us in person/the price they gave us in person SUCKED. Heck, I think they didn't even beat their own 'internet pricing' that I had gotten via email.

well the past half year has been silly season for car buying with an unprecedented drop of demand due to the busted economy and busted car industry(meaning huge savings) followed by huge increase in demand (due to Cash 4 Clunkers).
So depending on when you went in, costco might be way better or way worse.
The negotiated costco price in any other year but this year probably will be more competative. My thoughts are if they don't give you a quote over the phone, move on, and don't waste your time going in.

I got a Costco price for my recent purchase. I don't remember what it was exactly, but it wasn't all that great. I spent a few more days calling around for prices and playing dealers off each other and ended up getting a better price on my Fit from the same dealership.
I guess it could be a good way to go if you are completely haggle phobic and want your purchase to be as easy as possible.

I liked the Costco quote (a bit under invoice) but the dealership was quite far away so I decided to give my local dealer a chance. He agreed to meet, in fact slightly better, the Costco price. All relatively hassle free and up front. Don't know if I would have done even better with mega-haggling (14,300 for base MT) but I wanted to be first out the door with Clunkers and MA taxes were going up 8/1.

Used Costco here in the Atlanta area to purchase an 09 Base w/auto on August 8. No other options or add ons.
List is 16,200. Edmunds TMV is 15,800. Costco price quoted was 15,600: 100 below invoice. All including Honda's destination charge, but not tax, tag, and title.
I thought the price was fair but when they quoted me the "out the door price" $600 in dealer fees were added. (Do dealers do this in your part of the country? It's SOP in metro Atlanta). I walked. On the way home they called my cell and asked if they would knock off another $600 would I be interested? I'd still have to pay their dealer fees but the up front price would be reduced the same amount.
Told them I'd think about it and contacted a couple other dealers asking if they could do better on the "out the door" price. One asked me if they'd beat the price would we have a deal? They didn't have the color I wanted, so I rationalized going with the first dealer.
Point is, even with the "no haggle" costco buyers service, if you don't haggle you're paying more than you have to. I'm sure I could've worked a few hundred more off the asking price if I invested the time.

Fees (and even their associated legality) vary from location to location. Locally, I've seen fees as low as $35 dealer fee + $20 doc + $17.50 title (the last two are allowed under law) to as high as $600+ for 'dealer fee' + $499 doc (and I laughed as I walked away).
Shopped at a Honda dealer in TX that had practically no fees (Gunn Honda).
Some states even have a cap on how much tax can be charged on a motor vehicle purchase, regardless of tax rate and purchase price. Wish I could remember off the top of my head which state that was in.
