Car Top Rack?

large fairing pics
Got the set up from UK. Thule 130 cm bar aero (47.4") bar. Thule U.S. first said medium fairing for what they thought would be necessary for a car like the Fit. HOWEVER, when I told them that I got the 130 cm load bar from Thule U.K., they recommended the large. After putting the large on, I can't agree more. The medium would not have looked right.
Here are the pics.

But if you are going that route, make sure that you check the minimum distance the bars can be in order for the box to set on there securely. The last thing you would want is your gear to be scattered on the highway!

I'm surprised that thule and yakima USA don't have anything out yet. The Fit has been here for almost 6 months now. Hopefully Yakima will have something soon. I have a complete system sitting in my basement right now.

I have a complete system off my old WRX and have been waiting for a clip set to come out from Thule......and that's how I found this thread!!
Can anyone confirm if the 48 inch square US market bars I already have will work with the Euro Thule towers or not? I looked through the thread but did not see any mention. Sorry if I missed it.
Just like everyone else on this thread, I'm surprised nothing has come out for the FIT yet and that Honda has not put any racks out for it. Seems like that fit right in with the marketing behind the car.

The 48 inch bars here in the US will not work with the Euro towers, but your accesories will with no problems. It is not the same system that we use.
Thule is always behind on the new cars. Seems that they went through the same thing with the Ridgeline.

I ordered the kit from the UK. The 120cm square bars I got with it look to me to be the same as the 48" square bars in the US, but I can't swear to it (I had bars from another car, but I think they were a different length). A luggage basket that I already had and a US fairing that I bought worked fine with it.

Trust me they are not the same. The UK version is slotted on the bottom so that you can place the towers in the proper position. On the Fit, the towers are in two different places due to the contour of the roof. The US version of the bars are not slotted and you have to play the measurement game to find equal distances on both sides. The ONLY things that work are the accesories.

Roof bar size?
Help! Which is the correct size or kit to order from the UK -- the 120cm or the 130cm? I've never had to put on a roof rack so I don't want to get the wrong size and I'm just using it to carry a 40-lb kayak.
And should I order a fairing at the same time or get one in the US?
Thank you! Kathy

Yes, the link to the roofrackshop on page 2 of this thread tells you exactly what you need to order, which includes the 120 cm bars. Following other advice from this thread I got a large fairing in the US and it's just right.

I have a rotomold touring (ocean) kayak that I'd like to tote around. I'm guessing that the Thule set up would be better than the Honda rack ordered from Austrailia as mentioned earlier in this thread? In looking at the pics, it looks like the Thule set up has the weight distributed a little closer to the roof edge (where it would seems stronger). The Honda rack runs in the gutter in the roof-line where there may be slightly more flex?
I'm only tempted to go with the Honda parts because it looks more OEM, but in the final ****ysis, I want it to be as strong as possible, damn the esthetics. What do you all think? Anyone running the Honda rack for this purpose?

I'd registered on Thule's list so they'd inform me when they had a fit kit for the Fit. Now they do. Not much cheaper than the one for the Jazz that I bought from the UK as I recall (which has worked fine), but now an easy solution specifically for the Fit. Link:
