Thumbs down 220 clams for a "sport" grill

Wow! I just went over to the official Honda site to "build" my car. Turns out that a Fit Sport A/T without any extra fancy frills will run a tad over $16k.

As I scrolled through the accesory list, they show the "sport" grill upgrade...at an extra $220! Holy "F" that's ridiculous!!!!!!!!

I think it's safe to say that any aftermarket goodies should be left to the aftermarket...and not from Honda.

It seems to me the latest trend from auto makers is to offer a "come on in" price that's dirt cheap, but to upsell you on all the other goods to get you out the door for around $18k on a car advertised at $13k.

Plus to get full Honda accessory warranty you need to have the parts be dealer installed $$$$

the $220 includes installation. I think the time for the grill install is close to 1.0...so at a labour rate of probably close to $80/hour you can see why it's so much...

cheaper to buy it yourself and DIY

Actually, the $220 is the retail price for the sport grille. It does NOT include installation. On the Build and Price website under exterior accesories; it says:
"Choose a category from the tabs below. Installation cost for accessories is not included. Dealer costs may vary."

You can buy the same part from collegehills for $168. The install looks straightforward.

$168 is still no deal. but definitely better. And I'm sure it's easy to install.

Besides, I'd rather have a grille with no badge. I'll wait for more options.

Installation is fairly straight forward

remove bumper
remove grill
install new grill
re-install bumper

Local dealer put one on and I wasn't real impressed with it. Like the factory one better.
