WANTED: Any dealer in Greater SF Bay selling for MSRP?
#2
Some thoughts:
1) We haven't heard of much MSRP activity in the bay area (except for one report at Sunnyvale Honda). By getting the word out that they are "settling" for MSRP, a given dealership will make less total money than the gougers, so were not hearing of a lot of "no markup" deal in this initial honeymoon period.
2) if you can wait months, prices will come down & you won't have to scramble;
3) each buy is unique, so all a buyer can tell is what their purchase was like-- and dealership that sold at MSRP to one buyer may not give you the same deal;
4) if you can stand to do the research yourself, call or use the website of each of those dealerships-- you'll feel great about a job well-done. That's what I plan on doing when I eventually order mine.
Happy hunting!

I just got one in bay area for 1600 more today, and i think i got lucky cuz the dealer was my bro's friend and they let us that "low". They're selling crazy. In concord, they said one sold 7k more than msrp

The reason i settled for 1600 over is cuz it seemed like there won't be sport manual fits for long (even for 6 months?) unless teh dealer lied to me. The rep was my bro's friend, so i don't think so. Even for a high price of 2k over, the dealer coudln't get a car swap (tried 15 locations) to get the color i wanted due to the fact they're sold out (as opposed to the dealers not wanting to swap). Red was literally my last choice. They said even before arriving on US soil, the incoming ones are sold out. Most coming later are AT anyway. The only way i could have gotten lied to about all thisis if the ppl in charge of negotiating other dealers lied to the rep. O well I'm happy. I'm not rich, but i' not poor anyway. And if i got ripped off, it teaches this young me a lesson about car dealers haha

by july, msrp should be doable. if not, you are at least looking at a lower markup.
similar to civics when they first came out, demand is high, but will die down.
however, right now, msrp is hard. dealership selling at msrp are already sold out, probably not just in stock, but every incoming one.
p.s. gordio, did you purchase from someone name chris??

Of course if they go to MSRP next week, I'll buy, but I'm patient ...
I hope by July 31st I can get it for MSRP (or lower). It is 3 1/2 months

But regardless, it's only opening week - they should see changes in the same timeframe as we did (approximately 2 weeks after release)

San Leandro Honda - MSRP but make a deal with them before they do their dealer add-ons, I can give you my salespersons name if you want.
Honda of Marin - ditto
Honda of Oakland - they went from +$2k down to $500 and then gave up on me, ha ha.
El Cerrito Honda - quoted +$1.5 but probably negotiable. Didn't try too hard since I have other dealerships working with me.

I have a new lead even though my car is at San Leandro Honda today (new deliveries today everywhere!!)
Hansel Honda in Petaluma. Salesman Jason (sorry had the wrong name at first) for MSRP. He's got a 5sp Storm Silver base and a sport Blaze Orange.

I just got my car today at Vacaville Honda. This was the only dealer that did not haggle with me and simply gave me MSRP. They also didn't give me beef for not purchasing an extended warranty. It was a drive for me to get to Vacaville but the customer service made it worth it. Give Dave Adamson a call there and tell him Violet V sent you. The contact info is below.
