The pics don't show it well but the reinforcement bar and bracket are crumpled down around the frame they attach to, it looks unboltable though. The fender getting bent outward seems like it caused the windshield seal to pull away from the glass too, the hood is warped out of shape and the mounting brackets are bent all funny so when it closes the hood is slightly overlapping on the driver side fender, plus one of the welds that hold the latch on the underside of the hood is mangled off so itll kind of close but not latch.

I'll let you guys know $$$$ when I find out, the insurance company said I should be contacted today or tomorrow.

Glad to hear that you're alright. Here the big thing for people to put on their trucks are 4" open exhausts pointing up out of the bed, right behind the cab. Of course, they've also got the 387492387498 inch lift going on, and 106 inch wide tires, etc. I don't know how they pass inspections.

EDIT: make sure you take it to a dealership. Don't let geico tell you where to take it.

This makes me wonder even more why lowering a car to make it more stable and handle better is illegal while big dualie trucks that are raised are perfectly legal....

 

Trucks also put out probably double or triple the carbon dioxide that the little Fit is puts out.

 

All the more so with this guy, did I mention the quadruple skidmarks accross the intersection from him flooring it? They zig zag a little where he hit me and the other Honda but they stay consistent through and way out of the intersection. Thats why I say he was definitely floored.

 

I don't know if it's already like this but Trucks and SUV's should have higher insurance premiums because the cause much more damage then midsize to compact cars do.

This shit happens on a daily basis in Vegas. This and DUI drivers are what piss me off the most in this world. Too bad they usually go hand-in-hand. Last year in Vegas we actually had a guy hit another car head on through the wall of an express way overpass causing the car to fall 25 feet onto its roof, killing all the passengers. The driver just got out and walked away from the scene and none of the witnesses tried to stop him. Worst of all, he was never located.

 

Just totally sucks. I lived in Galloway for a couple of months and I can say that Columbus drivers are just nuts. I was nearly hit three times the first week I was there. As in: screeching tires hit; as in "HEY B***H! Why don't you get off the F***ing phone and watch where you're going!" hit. I rode with a native one night, and he thought nothing of doing 70 in a 35 Georgesville Rd.

I wonder if the driver of said pickup was in this country legally...

 

Just to disprove what you said, the place they picked which I am getting the estimate from a) guarantees the work for the lifetime of the vehicle and b) is in the top five most renowned body shops in the city. I've seen dealer work which is definitely on par but this is one of a handful of shops here that really step it up a notch, they spend way more time with paint, protective sealants that goes on after, it really shows, they do amazing work. These guys work on six figure cars all day. What do you think a dealer offers over that?

Insurance companies take care of you because you pay them for peace of mind and of course your legal obligations, but they have no reason to short-change you on the work that would cause way too many needless lawsuits, I've never been in an accident but I've had a lot of comprehensive claims in the past with this and other cars and Geico has been awesome. When I had my first claim with my old EJ2 B16B 95' Civic when I was 16...they diverted my $500 deductible over 5 payments. Tell me another insurance company that will do that. The Insurance Work has always been automatically picked out to be done at the most expensive out-of-pocket body shop around, they don't mess around.

Besides, after I get my estimate I am taking care of it myself so I get the settlement and repair it myself (friend has a shop). It sounds too good to be true because of how much extra money they give for labor but thats just the way it works. All the leftover money that I have will be well spent on the car anyway.

Definitely switching to NBP headlights since I have to replace one, using the body kit instead of the front bumper, should be able to repair rather than replace the passenger fender and hood. Basically, I just want to get it back together and going again. The rest of the mods I am getting after I'm driving again, since the Fit is my only car!

Not necessarily true. In my crash I had 2 airbags deployed and had my whole front end replaced except the passenger fender and they still fixed it.

Okay Geico finally called, thankfully no frame damage, and it's way less than expected.

He says "$3,600 with some aftermarket parts used, if the shop you go to charges you more to use OEM we can work with them."

So apparently I should be able to get even more if needed.

Shit, all I needed was $2500 to cover the $1000 deductible (they make the victim (me) pay the deductible on hit and runs if the driver cannot be identified!) and I still have enough to buy all the parts I need including the body kit and black headlights (which comes out to 1500).

Should be able to get a good deal from my friend to fill the stupid license plate spot so it's nice and flush, then strip, repair, and repaint the body kit. I will definitely start a new thread when it's all done so you guys have some 1-of-7 authentic Ings eye candy, heheh! I have something wicked in the works as a better mesh replacement in the kit so stay tuned.
