Should I Simoniz?

I'm a new Fit owner, and am weighing whether or not to have the dealer Simoniz coating done on the exterior. I have heard that the paint doesn't last long on Hondas (and I've seen some older models with chipping, especially around the bumper area). I tend to own this car for a long, long time (I had my last car for 18 years). Any advice for me? My new Fit is Silver, base model.

You can pick up Simoniz System5 w/ teflon on ebay for about $25. You don't get the dealer warranty with it but if you stay on top of things like bird bombs and don't let them bake in the sun and granted the product does as advertised then you should be okay.
You could also check out Autogeek for info on waxes and paint sealants.

my fit is over a year and a half old, given that is still young but my family has always owned hindas,a dn i have found if you clean and wax regualrly you will be fine. my paint is in perfect shape, minus toms rock chips and every honda my family has owned has had excelent paint, you just need to care for it

You should get the Simoniz/paint sealant/whatever the dealer calls it ONLY if they are throwing it in for free. I would not pay for it, since it is just a glorified wax job. This will not prevent rock chips or scratches.
