The Magic Seat,...was this a clincher for anyone else??
I've been a lifelong SUV user,.....other than enjoying toppling anything in my way,... I've always loved the roominess,...being able to fit large/oblong objects in and on, and simply being able to get comfortable ;O) when chosen to do so in the car.
And I'll still have a Dodge Ram to do those sorts of things,...but I wanted a car that's gonna do alot better w/ gas commuting and overall price.
Getting another SUV (the type I would want, anyway),...after factoring in gas a couple years, would easily cost DOUBLE the amount I plan on spending w/ a smaller vehicle.
Aside from safety concerns (hitting other vehicles, etc.), it only made sense from that standpoint to get one.
But I still would absolutely HATE the cramped up room inside one,...and then comes the fit's Magic Seat. I saw it's functions online,...and it proved to be more than icing on the cake for choosing a reputable company for a car like Honda. It actually, for the first time, gave me the will to invest in a car.
I know it's patented,...but does any other vehicle (not SUVs or vans like the Odyssey) have the ability for both front seats to COMPLETELY let down the way Honda Fits can? For those that spend a considerable amount of time in their cars,... the bottom line is the Magic Seat multiplies the possibilities you will have if you get a car w/ one. Was this a deal-clincher for anyone else?

One of many clinchers for me. I saw that online and went, "OMG, that's fookin' cool!" I had doubts about the adequacy of the Fit's performance, which were taken care of by Car and Driver. And then I saw it in Blaze Orange in person, which led me to call my dealer and put down a deposit.
I take delivery in mid-may.

6 months ago, after hating macs for my entire life, I got a mac. One lesson i learned from owning this thingy is even convenient features you don't like at the time of buying, u'll eventually use and love. I don't have plans for the magic seats, but I know one day i'll be very happy i have them. plus, if the back seats are down, since the area is flat and level, it can function as truck : ) useful for after going to costco or moving large stuff if my dad's truck is not available.

The versatility the Magic Seats afford was a big factor for me, along with the full compliment of airbags and the fact that it's a Honda. I've been driving a 95 Corolla Sedan for the past 5 years and I've often had to leave it at home or go home and get our minivan because I have to haul something somewhere. I'm never buying a sedan again. I've been waiting for a good hatchback to come along. With the cargo volume the Fit affords, I can use it for 2/3 of my cargo-hauling errands (some things are too big even for the Fit! ). The Fit looks to move me from good to great hatchback territory.

The biggest advantage of the Magic Seat system is that you can fold up the rear seat bottoms to create a high-ceiling center cargo area, which may make it very useful for hauling groceries. This is why I sometimes refer to the Fit as the grocery mom car.

I thought it was a cool option, but it was not a reason for purchasing the Fit. I have always loved this platform... I thought it would be different in the area I live in too. I just wish Honda would have brought over the Beat!

Can't believe I'm saying this, but if bootcamp tm can live up to the hype, I too may become a "gasp" Mac head
I've also heard from other iPod users that have Honda's MusicLink software, that it too likes the platform from the darkside better....

maybe its just me, but why would you want to pay twice as much for a computer to run Windows?!?! this best part about Macs is the operating system. when i heard of boot camp i thought it was apple throwing its already dedicated users a bone by letting them run windows only apps on their macs, but i guess they really think it will bring PC users over to mac. is the sexy styling of an imac really worth paying twice as much as a dell? you'll still have all the bugs, quirks, worms, and viruses to deal with inherent in windows. Now if dell or hp offered OSX on one of their computers....sign me up....
im not interested at all in using honda's music link software. it takes forever to set up your library, can crash your computer, and i can see myself taking up my entire morning commute just trying to get to a specific song

To continue off topic -
Well yes you are right - Mac's cost more - but between iTunes and some of my Adobe programs I actually do like Mac better.
Now all those Word doc's and Excel sheets I bring home from work are another story and do indeed need native OS to work right (for me at least.)
As for MusicLink - just ride ONCE with someone who knows how to work it and you might change your mind. My nephew with it in his Civic can now sort 7 ways to sunday through his library and NEVER takes his eyes off the road!
Seems those who don't like MusicLink write about it - all the rest are too busy driving and jammin' to care
