Ford Fiesta
According to Edmunds:

Ford is going to come out with competitor to the Fit. Ford already makes or at least sells the Fiesta in Britain. There is a 5 door hatch available there. I have yet to find specs on MPG (KPG in UK?). I still want to test drive the Fit, but I may wait to see how the Fiesta stacks up. My 11 year old Prizm isn't gong anywhere, but I won't buy a car that gets worse mileage than I already get in it (29 city, 35 hwy). I had a German made Ford Fiesta in the the 70s & it was a super little car! Competition is a good thing, right?

I believe that Ford has admitted they are working on a new "world model" B-segment automobile in conjunction with Mazda that can be sold in the USA. This will likely result in a new Ford Fiesta model and a new Mazda2 model.
Expect the new car to be unveiled at NAIAS in January 2007 for sale by Summer 2007 as a 2008 model in the USA from both Ford and Mazda; the car will likely be built at one of Ford's assembly lines in Mexico.

ROFL yeah. Ford should really use a new name for the NA market. When I hear fiesta I think of a rusty shit car, or a tequila party in Mexico.

I didn't really notice the "few years" bit. I think I saw elsewhere that it will be out in the US next year. Ford has been selling these in UK for a while. One can even get a diesel vs. petrol 1.3 L. Must get good MPG (KM per L?). Well, I am still a Fit fan. I can't wait to drive one. Should not be much longer now...BTW, I notice now that I started this under the wrong category--should have been under Fit compared to others. Sorry.

I think it is funny how all of these car companies are blasting these platforms out now. 12 months ago it was completely unheard of. I am excited to see which ones will still be selling in 24 months from now

I think Mazda should just bring their Mazda 2 over period; it kicks ass. But 33% of Daddy's say must mean something.
