Fuel Door Locked?

OK, for those who have the Fit in Canada, I need this question answered, please...

Is the fuel door locked? Can anyone from the outside just pop it open?

Thanks...

You can open the fuel filler door from the outside. It is disappointing that they can't be locked. I guess we have to resort to the lockable cap.

Pretty cheap insurance if you live in a rough neighborhood.

I don't think I've ever had anyone steal gas. I can't imagine stealing gas. This isn't Road Warrior.

I'll be buying a locking gas cap just in case.

They do lock in other countries. I find it hard to believe Honda would remove the feature in America.

Well, it's really weird that the USA Fit doesn't have that feature, mine is from Mexico and it does have it

The gas cap is 100% open for business.

Can anyone take a pic of what the lock on the fuel cover looks like, and may be the release mechanism within the car?

Is it just a simple cable release?

thanks

That's what I was thinking too. Why would US Honda spend money to get rid of a feature thats present on every other Fit/Jazz destined for other markets.

I saw the locking gas cap option on collegehills, but I think it sucks having to carry another key just to open the gas cap!

Perhaps the remote-release door on the Jazz is part of the security system of the Sport, and thus not available on the Base. Anybody have a NADM Sport to verify that the door is lockable?

I saw the car a few days ago at a show here locally and that was actually one of the things I looked at. The door has no lock, neither does the cap so its completely open to whomever wants to gain access to it. The only viable option is a lockable cap which isnt that big of a pain, just attach the key to your car's keyring.

The Sport I looked at this morning didn't seem to have anything to lock the gas door. As if, the Civic had this feature in the 1980s!!!!

Doesn't every new Honda lock? I don't know, maybe the Element doesn't if I remember correctly.

Then just get a clip for your belt to attach that big key ring with all those keys just like the super has - sounds awesome.

I guess the drivers side pocket would be a great place to put the fuel cap lock key if you dont want to keep it with your other keys.
