Very bad idea. Ever notice how short the rear ends of our cars are?

My GD1 has already survived getting rear-ended by a bus...and the results were NOT pretty. I don't fancy taking another shower under what used to be my rear windshield, and neither should you.

Straight from the mouth of a truck driver: "It's like following a golf cart."

I just drive like normal most of the time, meaning speed limit in and around school / residential areas, and 5 over out of town. Tried driving the speed limit, people kept trying to run me off the road.

So far one last year, one this year lost to the Fit's cornering. Standard recipe: they tailgate literally 5 feet back, I approach what is for most vehicles a 10-15 mph corner, I verify no traffic and whip around at 25 (the speed limit) without leaving my lane, and let them hit the opposite curb. Since I bought it an F150 and a Cobalt have learned the hard way.

Haha I love doing that in the canyons. I let them tail me and then they see me disappear. :3

Yeah, I'm waaay past the idea of looking good but sacrificing basic capability. I also just have to laugh at the lowered guys that are pushing their car out of the smallest snow banks every time it snows, let alone the railroad track/angled driveway issues. IF the point is to go faster or get better mileage to save money, in the end, who is really winning that race?

It bewilders me how people judge by appearance, in this case the design of our Fits.

Just today I was on a residential street filled with stop signs. When I entered the street I immediately noticed a woman in her Volvo race onto the street and pulled up quickly to my rear bumper. I was doing the speed limit of 35, but I gently braked for each stop sign, looked all ways and then accelerated normally, not even slowly, but normally and yet every time I looked in the rear view mirror I can see this woman throwing her hands up in the air and cussing to herself, meaning I wasn't accelerating or driving fast enough. After each stop sign I accelerated and she didn't bother to stop at all. She simply blew past each one riding my bumper. She finally had a chance to overtake me, flooring it whizzing by me and accelerating to about 50.

I guarantee you that if I were in say a big SUV she wouldn't have acted as such.

I really wonder how the Smart Fortwo guys feel, or Yaris or Scion guys. Their cars are all shorter and smaller....

These guys in their retarded lifted trucks need to be charged 8 bucks a liter for gas.

cause the fit is a lil car.... & they are much higher so they can see how close they really getting. its just to mess around with ya, mess wit em back

Today, I was at a red light next to a monster of a truck. The guy opened the door to spit out his chewing tobacco spit. The light turned green and he screeched his tires and his modified exhaust was all kinds of stupid loud. In front of him was a 350Z that he kept gassing and braking trying to intimidate to go faster and beat the next red light. He got frustrated and cut across all 3 lanes to cut off someone in my lane so he could be first at the red light. As soon as it went green, he floored it like he had some gun and beer convention that he had to be at. I love Texas.

/sarcasm off

gotta love people in a hurry. We're all hypocrites though. We've all rushed at some point, we've all ran late at least once, had some type of emergency, etc. I've ridden people's asses before, floored it from red lights, cut across 3 lanes. Not often, but damn right I get pissed off sometimes.

Yep, I think mostly everyone is guilty of doing something rude at one point or another, whether intentional or not. However, by the way this guy was driving, all intimidatingly like he owned the road with a a truck like that, I can't help but assume he's a jackass all the time.

Just how some people are, they get the slightest whiff of power, it consumes them and they totally abuse it.... and apply that knowledge to all things that have ever gone wrong outside of an accident!

Take advantage of the inertia properties. Just coast...they get really pissed off because they have to press on the brakes to slow down and you don't.

Then those suckers can spend $999999999 on brake pads.

This is a funny thread, mostly.

I had two different people make runs on me today. I was on a 6-lane highway, 3 lanes in each direction. In each case the person was in the center lane, going 5-10mph slower than prevailing traffic speeds -- in other words, they were doing roughly the speed limit. Folks were passing these people on the right and on the left. I went right, both times, and both times they picked up their speed when they saw a puny little Honda Fit overtaking them.

Grumble.

Makes me think very, very seroiusly about what it would take to put 200WHP in the little bug, just to really, really f**k with people when they do that.

On second thought screw that, maybe I'll just drop a Subie flat 4 in there, mid-engine. 300WHP!

I'm afraid to coast because when they're THAT close to my rear bumper, I get to thinking that for a split second when I get off the gas, they don't pay attention and then BAM! I die.

f'n awesome quote

As for me, I don't get tailgated too much in the fit, but when my gf drives it happens like mad. I dont get it honestly, mainly because I usually am hauling ass, and people are like "I have a pace car." With my rear windows tinted to 5%, I could give a shit less. In Cali, they hit you in the rear, they are 100% at fault anyway. Even brake checking people if they hit you(they were not leaving adequate distance) its their fault. How do they know you weren't avoiding a road hazard?

I get tailgated by trucks in my Accord tho, and its really low, many headlights of lifted trucks are well over my roof line. I had an F350 turbodiesel OVER my trunk at every light, so I sat at a green, and waited for the other lane to go, and floored it when turned yellow, with the truck chasing me. As soon as I do this, theres a cop on the other side of the road, initiates a police chase, and I floored it, pulled on the cop, and got away. The speeds I was at was ridiculous, well above any speed limit in CA. Later on in my parents neighborhood I was driving and the same cop was still lookin for me. he pulls me over doing like 15mph, says "whats up speed" smiling. He looks in the car, and I was redoing my interior, so I had NO Carpet, No passengers seat, and my lil bro and my dog are in the back seat. The cop chewed my ass for a bit, but let me go because he couldn't say I was speeding since he had to wait for other traffic to pull over. I was over 3 times the speed limit at the time, and really, that incident made me chill out on my driving permanently. Now I get that shit, I just do the speed limit or 5 over, and point my side mirrors to the ground and just chill
