internet discounts? deposits?
1. i have heard that if you are in correspondence with a dealership through email before buying a car, that it is likely you will get some sort of internet-offer or discount? why would this they do this and why do they give you an internet account number?
2. i have been trying to get a dealership around here to take a refundable deposit from me for a fit, but they only accept non-refundable... so frustrating. is anyone from the gulf coast and had a good experience putting a deposit down or getting on the waiting list for a fit? most people i talk to down here haven't even heard of the fit yet (including some car-salesmen!).
thanks!!

1. Wait until Edmunds.com publishes invoice price, which should occur on or around April 20th, when the Fit is released. Then wait until April 28th and email local dealers in your area and offer them invoice. In about an hour, you should see some emails back, either accepting your offer or calling you crazy.
2. Non-refundable? No problem, put it in a VISA or AMEX. If something goes wrong, dispute the charge with your bank.
