Insurance for Fit -- too $$$ ???

With Canada already getting their models and the US about to get rolling, does anybody have any facts about the (relative) price for insuring the Fit. I've got one on order but just got off the phone to my insurance guy. He doesn't have any exact numbers for the Fit yet but he's estimating that it will come at an EXTRA $400 premium (annually) compared to something like the Yaris because the Fit is going to be seen as a mod'er.

Oh, that would be awesome! I'm looking to find out about insurance too. What do you think it will be relative to a Civic?

This thread made we walk down to the place I insured my Fit, I got a quote for the Yaris. Came out to $1285. My Fit was $1350. Close here, but still both to high IMHO.

USA 2007 Fit Insurance Rates...

For those interested, you can now get an insurance rate quote on State Farm's website for the 2007 Fit.

I plugged in the numbers, giving the same specs as the insurance I currently have on my 2005 Dodge Dakota Laramie QC 4x4, and it's about $30 cheaper per year to insure ($762)... but that quote doesn't necessarily take into account all applicable discounts - just most of them.

Oy, I wish my insurance was that cheap! The quotes I've been getting for cars I'm cross-shopping (Mazda3, Civic, et al) are coming up to $1000 for 6 months!

Angry That's Philly for you

I'm paying $300/6month but that's with co collision insurance in a '90 Corolla with a low mileage discount. A while back, I tried to fincnace a used Accord for $6000 and the collision portion of the insurance was quoted at around $3000/6month, meaning the underwriters figured I had a 100% chance of totaling the cat in the next year!

I got a quote for my work address in Fort Washington and it was 1/3 the cost.

How old are you? Any accidents or infractions? I know in Canada the rates can also be affected by the area that you live, especially in the bigger cities like Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver. My buddy's rates went up by over 40%when he moved to a different area of Toronto a few years back.

I'm 20, will be 21 in June. I know that my insurance is going to be really expensive - I'm just hoping the Fit's will be better than the Civic's.

I'm 25 and own a honda civic EX 1999. I pay $480 for six months, and insured with my fiance which brought down my insurance. They quoted the Fit to be $820/6 months for me (includes comp and collision that I do not pay on my civic). My fiance, 21 years old, actually owns a Yaris, and she pays $800/6 months.

Wow ... I never realized how much more others pay for insurance in areas outside of Virginia (or is that "outside of my family?")!
