Fit Pricing

I gave a $500 deposit to my dealer last month to be placed first in line to test drive the car once it gets to the lot. Yesterday several salesmen from the dealership went to Greensboro to learn about and "play" with the car. They were, also, given competitor cars to test drive for comparison.
My dealer said it was really fun to drive and the interior was extremely versatile. He said it was a good solid ride.

willee, you need to call these dealers on the phone. E-mail slips though the cracks far too easily. Or better yet, go to the dealer. Trust me, once you can get their attention they'll be more than happy to take a deposit.

After reading Confessions of a Car Salesman, maybe it's on purpose. If they see internet sales disrupting their chance at "ups", maybe they figure that if you are serious, you will call or drop in. This may be a red flag to consider when selecting a dealer.

good idea going bad
I have been told that this new car the Fit is to be an entry level car for college folks and first time buyers. It is a good Idea however They are not doing a good job. A civic dx meets the discription in that catagory much better

Are you kidding me? The Civic has NO features for the price. Power nothing, no a/c...in contrast, for about the same price, the Fit has all the features I want, has much more versatile interior space, and handles better.
As a first time buyer, the Fit is exactly what I want - efficient, affordable, versatile, equipped with the features I want, and Honda reliability. I've already put down a deposit.

I don't remember it having PW/PL...probably because I was stunned at the total lack of features. No radio and no a/c, which is essential for the South. overall, at the price point I'd much rather have the Fit.

yeah sure. i can totally understand that. the fit is an awesome deal. i hate the civic dx. hate it. i was under the impression that my dealership wouldn't get any because it just doesn't make sense in socal to get a car without a/c. but then we got one, then we got two. we actually sold one. i have no idea how, but we sold one. and then we got two more.
hahahaha, get this...we added a/c to one and a radio and it's more than an lx

Just an update....
I put down a $200 deposit on a Fit Sport Manual in Blaze Orange on Friday. I'm working with Vann York Honda of High Point, NC. Final price is $16,509.60, after 3% sales tax and doc fee. No dealing unfortunately, but at least I'm not over MSRP.

sascholl - Didn't get to test drive it, but I'm happy too. Going to be taking delivery in mid-May. Don't let the Triangle dealers take you for a ride, you shouldn't pay more than what I'm paying for mine.
fit_ness - MSRP + destination is $15,720, not 16,720.
