wheel mixup

i took the front 2 wheels off my fit to paint them black, but i forgot label them... so i don't know which one goes where. my plan was to paint all 4, rotate the fronts to the back and vise versa... i was told that since they are weighted they have to go on their original side...

any input on this?

If I was in your situation I would just say screw it since you're rotating them anyway. Just put the fronts to the back and be sure to remember which rear wheels are which so you can criss-cross them to the front.
I've never heard of the weight on the original side thing. Each wheel/tire has weights on them in order to balance them, but they're not specific to which side of the car they go on. GL!

Check the outside tread if they are channeling outwards relative to the rotation and see if you can differentiate the two.

omg. LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the wheels arent balanced ON your car. they are balanced on a machine. they are balanced to themselves. you could put your rim on my car, and itll still be balanced. doesnt matter left, right, up or down

lmfao!!!!! whawt are you talking about?

MAYBE you mean the tires are directional. but theres no way that a tire would be "balanced" for the front right, or front left, etc etc position. that is bullshit

no problem. check your tires. they might be directional. a balanced wheel is a balanced wheel, but your tires could be directional meaning they are supposed to be on the left, or right side depending on how they were mounted on the rims

Actually, some people do whats called "Road Forcing." I did it when I worked at Dodge/Jeep. You road force the tires and wheels. It puts a big drum (simulates the road) against the tire and adds lots of pressure.

After its done it comes up with a number on the screen. Anything higher than 25-30lbs of road force will result in real low speed AND high speed vibrations.

So, if you have this type of reading; 10lbs, 4lbs, 20lbs, 23lbs, youre suppose to keep the lowest numbers closest to the driver.

4lbs...10lbs
20lbs..23lbs

Thats how it would sit on the car.

Other than that, Matts right. People RARELY road force tires/wheels. I only did it so that I wouldnt get any complaints. It also points out bad tires and bent wheels.

Yours were probably road forced... And I believe your tires are directional.
So I noticed from the tread.
