Oil Change
Had the dealer change the oil yesterday. I checked it today and it showes about 1/2" over full. Damn, if you can't trust the dealer, the very people who are supposed to know your car, who can you trust. Anyone else ever have this problem?

the stealer is only as reputable as the person who worked on your car. you gotta feel for the people back there, as they probably get slammed. but still, oil changes on a fit are so damn easy to do, it's not even funny. if you have a flat oil drain pan, you don't even need to jack the car up.
that's why i do my own. $10 for filter and oil, knowing i did it right, it's good peace of mind.

I usually change my own oil. The Fit is NOT an easy car to get under for me. I'm not huge, 6'2 225lbs, but reaching the drain plug was tight. I actually like going to the dealer. It is quite plush, and is a good place to read the paper and have breakfast. Also, it is never easy or clean to get rid of used oil. However, I do change the oil on my Jeep Liberty Crd diesel, the $$ they want to change the oil is scary.
Bottom line, no matter how nice the front of the store is, if the employee working on your car can't even pull the dipstick when done and check his/her work, it is all for nothing.

Hey Midwest,
I'm with you. Regarding trust. I had my first oil change yesterday at the stealer....and the oil level this morning is only half way between the low and high. I have had this problem for the last 4 yrs here in New Mexico. The dealers claim that the oil level is not supposed to be at full...just in between the two markers. I was always brought up to keep it at the full mark. My other car is a Nissan Altima, and they do that consistently. What are other people's thoughts?

Forgot to mention....I did an experiment on the tire pressure yesterday for my first oil change. I run the tires at 40 psi right now, and I checked them carefully before going in to the dealer. Of course, he gives me a detailed sheet of how many things he checked (many on the list), and one of those is tire pressure. It says he adjusted them to the pressure in the manual, which they said was 36 psi (not true). When I got the car back.....all tires were still at 40...they way I had them.
So the truth is....they never checked them at all. Those stealer dealers....most are the same, but not all.
