Thumbs up U.s Msrp

Any word on MSRP on new U.S. Fit. In articles I've seen all I see is starting around $12,500. I'm interested in the Sport w/auto trans. I've been thinking of the Mazda5 also but it's aprox. 3-5 grand more and the mpg is only 22-27. This would be a second car for me, I have a 2005 CRV SE.

I believe the official Honda Fit site says a "super friendly" base price of $13k - $14k. However, I've also read that the base may be closer to $12k with the Sport coming in closer to $15k. At this point, everything is still shrouded in mystery and speculation. We won't know anything definite until April.

I used to think 13k starting is too high. Nissan's is starting 12k, but comes w/ nothing (not even power windows). Even though I customized with more and more features, even if it doesn't quite reach the fit's standards, you end up paying 17k (customize on the versa nissanusa.com try it to compare. Yaris hands down is cheap, but comes w/ nothing.)

I just priced the Yaris with all the power and safety options and Auto and Hit $16K and it still doesn't have all the features of the fit. $1700 for Power windows and locks

The Yaris looks like an egg on wheels.

My concern with Fit pricing is this; here in Canada we have a civic DX-G (basically a DX + Power optins, no alloy/cruise) that is $18,800 CAD MSRP.

If the US Fit's Sport MSRP is said to be apprx $15,000 USD, based on current US to Canada markup, if the Fits Sport MSRP goes slightly above that we will be dangerously close to the DX-G price here in Canada.

If that becomes the case the question would be: for apprx the same MSRP would one rather have the all-toys Fit Sport, or the DX-G as described above ?

Thoughts/Opinions ?

Some of you Canadians might remember the ultra rare 1992-1993 Civic EX-V. It was a 4 door and came VERY nicely equipped. It had power windows, locks, mirrors, power sunroof, 4 wheel disk brakes, rear sway bar (only 1992-1995 Civic model with a rear sway bar in Canada), the D16Z6 motor (1.6l VTEC). I’m not sure if the AC was a standard option or not.

It was priced just a bit higher than the base 1992-1993 Accord. Most people opted for a plain Accord over a loaded Civic. Look at the pricing now, even the Civic Si coupe is priced lower than the base Accord coupe in Canada, and 1000$ CDN more than the Accord Sedan.

The Fit Sport will likely be priced between the Civic sedan DX-G and LX models (18,800$ and 20,380$ CDN with manual transmissions).

as much as i love the fit, if that's the case, i'd opt for the Civic... it's a much more substantial car.

right now that's the decision we're making for a new car for my fiance... if the Fit comes in a fair bit lower than the Civic, then that will be our choice. If it's around the same price as the DX-G, then the Civic it is.

Depends on what you plan on doing with your car. I like the option of moving furniture, and other odd items with a hatchback.

In my opinion, I think the Fit Sport should be around the $18,000 - $18,500 CAD mark. If they bring out the sport at the same MSRP as the DX-G it's a hard call. If Honda Canada prices the Sport Fit higher than the DX-G, I think they will have priced themselves out of a lot of sales for the Fit.

Agreed, but odds are they still want to keep selling the Civic in high numbers, so it will be interesting to see the final pricing.
