They could be excellent vents for the cargo area, if one was taking their dog to the park. Enough for the dog to stick his nose out the window, but not so much that there is any danger of the dog getting out.

It would be very nice if they could be power. One extra switch on the driver's door and both back windows pop-open an inch or two.

Good too if it's a hot day, the car has been in the sun, and you turn on the A/C. Blow out all that hot air.

Good for ventilation, without having the fan/blower on. And the windows are so small that it might be difficult to break into the car that way, so they could be left open sometimes. When you run into the store for a few groceries, for instance.

The thread started 05-03-2006 and notice how many of the ideas HAVE been incorporated. Dead pedal, tilt/tele steering wheel, navigation system, 6-disk CD. Center console is available to add on. Probably can get a few of the items aftermarket. And it seems to me that the Jazz has the rear disk brakes.

And how much did the price go up? Not much. Right? Depending on WHICH options you choose, of course.

I was thinking of those mini-van pop-open rear windows. I don't know if they are power or not. But it kind of defeats the purpose of having venting windows unless they would be power, because that back area isn't even a seating area.

Don't want it to affect safety, with people climbing around on the back seats. And the driver certainly can't open manual windows while driving.

If you really do think they would be useful and would be something you really wanted, keep posting.

Either Honda will do it, or someone will create an aftermarket add-on, if there is enough interest.

 

I think Honda does look at these sites because who knows better than owners/drivers of their car as to what changes would improve performance and function. The first time I took my Fit into the dealership for it's first oil change the guys saw my Fit Freak sticker and immediately got on the forum to look around. They had no idea we existed and could not believe how cool some of the guys/gals had made their cars into. They always tell me it takes them 10 minutes before they start working on my car cause they walk around to see what new things have been put on the car.

I went over to the Toyota site to find an image of the farthest windows on the Sienna:

Interior picture number 8. They DO have seats way back there. It doesn't show the window open, but I can see that there is something there to open the window.

About how far did the windows open in your dad's Sienna, supaumar? Two inches maybe? Wouldn't need anymore than that.

It would probably be much less wind drag (for those concerned) to have vents that open in the back and have the inside ventilation system set on "fresh air" without even having to turn on the fan while driving on the highway. Air would just flow through, from front to back.

While looking at the interior of the Sienna, got another idea. Check out the individual reading lights where the handles are in the Sienna on the roof. That's what they look like to me. Reading lights.

That would be a good feature too. Instead of a dome light and map lights, four lights, one above each door.

 

LOL that's one reason I mod my Fit. Last time some Russian employee took pics of my car and all I had was tint, red H's, Fit-delete, rims, and mugen visors! Next time I go, I'll have added JDM console w/ boots and knob, skunk2 coils and retrofit HIDs. They are going to go nuts lol

I'll tell them about contacting Honda HQ about powered rear-quarter windows. Who knows, maybe they'll make it an optional service someday for GDs

 

My mom's minivans have had that feature even back to the beginning of the 90s. The Expedition we have also has powered rear quarter windows. They open about an inch and a half.

 

I remember when the Dodge Caravan first came out, and the back windows didn't open. It was a big deal when they did! Again, they have seats way back there, so it was more important to have SOME ventilation for the folks in the back.

But even without people in the far back area, that would be perfect. An inch is fine for minimum. And there's no reason to have more than two inches.

It would be for flow through ventilation. I remember trips as a kid in the back seat with the parents up front. And the sun coming in from the back, baking the back of the head and there was NO ventilation. This was in a 69 Mustang.

Black vinyl interior. Bet we could have baked cakes and cookies on that back ledge under the window. Better than a Betty Crocker Easy Bake Oven.

 

Park your car in Calgary, leave anything in the rear area (exposed), come back an hour later and there you go a breezy rear window.

 

I had an 86 Dodge Caravan with the rear windows operated by a big round knob above and slightly behind the front seats.

It was a really great feature for ventilation, and didn't generate much noise at all!

 

Had this on my old escort hatch. An electronic version would be great.
