Delivery Date?
Anyone gotten a concrete delivery date? I assume those in Cali will be rcving theirs sooner than those of us in the midwest & eastern coast. I'm down in San Antone & though the dealer placed their initial order w/ the model I requested back in 1/23, all they projected on the P.O. was 4/10. Here's hoping it's sooner rather than later!

I can have mine as soon as late March, im in cali and a dealer nearby is getting 9 Fit's in late March to early April and 2 of them are manual which is what I want so as long as those two are Sport models and the color I want, I should have one pretty soon.

That is what my dealershit is doing. They have my deposit for it and then I'll be purchasing it before it arrives.

Deliery, Towing and allocation!
I talked to Tonkin Honda in Seattle and the General manager told me the first group of cars were suppose to be built 3-18 and due to arrive here about 4-15.
Word I keep getting is automatics will be biggest percentage of units made and Sport will also be more than Base. GM said manual base Civics are hard to sell. His first allotment is six cars with five automatic.
I also found some interesting information from Remco (The towing people) They had a recording that stated that almost all Honda's auto and manual could be towed four wheels down without modifications. If your afraid it will void your warranty they will sell you one. All front wheel gas powered civic's were included. The GM at Tonkin said the Fit is using the Civic transmissions.
Roadmaster is looking to get one of the first units in Portland to fabricate the brackets for towing. First donor Fit will get the installed attachments for free. Not the Tow bar.
With this news I changed my reserved Base manual to a Sport Automatic. I would miss the cruise, remote unlocking and alloy wheels to much. I figure the upgraded radio, ipod connection, fog lights, steering wheel shifter and wing kit will just be gravy.
Several Dealerships I talked to don't have the first shipment reserved. Sales might be slow and some of us may be able to buy under list. I need to get one of the first one to take on a motorhome trip to Alaska in May.

The dealership I am talking to doesnt have any exact dates as far as when they are getting the first handful of units but it does seem like Sport Automatics will be the majority of Fits imported into the US and its not hard to see why. Manuals in the US arent easy to sell, if automatic corvettes sell more then manuals which they do along with pretty much any other car offered with both type of transmissions then its not hard to see why a non sports oriented car like the Fit would sell more with a automatic.
US consumers just dont like to shift, whether people wanna label that laziness, convenience or whatever, they are less sport oriented and more about cruising not short quick sprints. All I know is im getting one of the first Fit Sport Manuals that the dealership im talking to gets given its the right color, no way im settling for a automatic.

According to one of the local Honda dealerships in Ottawa, they typically sell as many manual and automatic Civics, and expect a similar ratio for the Fit, or possibly more manuals being sold.
The lady said something about the possibility of the Sport not being offered in Canada, but I’ll wait until April and see what models make it to the lots.
