Redlining Honda Fit
#22
oh man...
1) vehicles haven't been carb'd since the 80's
2) redlining DOES hurt your motor, but it does so slowly becuase it's a honda. if you bounce the rev limiter 24/7 you'll eventually grenade your L15 motor. its inevitable with any motor. though honda's do last longer than the average american P.O.S.
have fun, be safe. and keep the redline shifts for the track or interstate.

well said Wontfit... redlining will hurt your motor eventually.. but in reality if u maintain your car and dont bounce it off the rev limiter all the time the rest of the car will crap out long b4 your motor does... if you occasionally do it and take care of your Fit you will be fine... now i wouldnt say the same for an Aveo... that would probably grenade on the 2nd redline..... lol

i dont think its slow, i realised that after i put it in sports mode, i get very close to redline and shift it, i wouldnt have a problem shiftin a rev limit, its yummi ESPECIALY on the high way, my mom gets scared when i do that, punching that pedal on the on ramp, her head lunges back to the headrest and the front lip goes up an extra 2 inches
and damn cojaro, if you do that might as well save some money and go with the "dae woo" aveo lol
and in the morning if its cold, i rev it, not on the street but in netruel keep it revved for about 15 seconds and let it go
And i agree, AT is SO MUCH SLOWER than sport. ESPECIALLY on the hills, im thinkin about doing a comparison video for that. this makes me wonder how much "faster" the real MT is lol

and sorry man i was juss joking :] [waves]

ehh i'm not really sure if it's GOOD for the car,
but i recommend just letting it idle until the temp is okay,
or if you need to just drive off right after start up and go in S mode and shift really early until the temperature is normal

car feels quicker when you dont redline it and just drive swiftly.
each time i redline the FitS it reminds me of how slow it is, so
i dont do that any more and just use the mid-torque band and
quick shifting to keep it going fast. it's more enjoyable
that way imho.

i feel like unless i need to accelerate onto a freeway or something, redlining only makes me feel like the car is slowing down. i hate that feeling of running out of room in the gear. if i shift at 5 or 6k rpm it feels much nicer. and good lord, the noise these things make when they're revving that high....
