scary crash i saw...

just want to remind everyone to be safe while motoring. i know it goes without saying, but tonight on my way back from san francisco we were travelling down highway 101 when we happened upon an overturned car. the accident had literally just happened. no medics or anything on the scene yet. a man was trapped in his ford taurus (the enemy). we couldn't even call 911 due to no signal. in the end we left when ODOT showed up and "relieved" us of duty. i drove home SOOOO SLOOOOWWWW after that. scary stuff.
you see wrecks all the time, but when you see a badly mangled, upside down car with a human clinging to life inside, it really puts things into perspective.
BE SAFE EVERYONE!

Imagine taking care of that person and actually see every single thing that is wrong with them.

.... working in an Emergency Room will give you a whole new perspective on what you do.

humans take life for granted until reality happens right in front of them then they play it safe until they forget about reality again. i have this problem too.
hope the guy makes it.

Yeah weird stuff happens sometimes. One of my co workers 17 year old son( with no licenses) stole her brand new eclipse at 3am crashed it going 140mph. The car was unrecognizable on scene and they never found two of the tires from the car. Her son walked away with a cut on his forehead that only needed 4 stitches.

I don't know what the statistics are on this, but it seem like there are more accidents when daylight savings ends and rush hour is in the twilight. I've seen an accident the last three nights (two really bad ones) on the way home.

it probably has something to do with the sun being right on the horizon and shining right in everyones face blinding them so they cant really concentrate on the car in front of them.

Yes, that could be true. Also, I leave work at dark and it may be that everyone is used to driving in daylight and suddenly it's dark much earlier.

I saw one Thursday where a Honda Civic pulled out in front of what looked like the remains of a Ford Expedition, that had to be doing at least 70 (major highway). The driver of the Expedition was careflighted to the hospital with head injuries while the Civic driver apparently had only a leg injury (still sounds bad but amazing that the Civic driver was less injured. The whole front end was gone).
