ScanGauge Mounts

ScanGauge Mounts
Got my ScanGauge today, and have it temporarily mounted on top of the column like most folks seem to. I am not too fond of this position as it blocks some of the instrument pod. Looking around on ebay for mounts, I found one that mounts to the rear view mirror stalk and another that is a Ram Mount suction cup and ball joint with a bit of aluminum channel with setscrews to hold the ScanGauge.
The Ram Mount one (Called Xgauge) I would mount on the tiny fixed window ahead of the left outside mirror, and have the ScanGauge sit between the a-pillar and the instrument pod. How could you run the cable from here? Would a tiny drilled hole at the edge of the pod cover do it?
The second one (BlendMount) I like. It mounts the ScanGauge on the RVM stalk, either above or below the RVM. My question is about running the lead for this mount. They include an extension cable, but it would almost have to been run down the a-pillar. I'm not too keen on this on account of the side airbag, Is this doable? How likely are you to tear up the a-pillar cover or the airbag? If anybody has done any work in this area, please feel free to chime in. TIA, guys!

I have mine Velcro mounted above the fuse panel opening. It's easily seen through the steering wheel and out of the sun most of the time. I don't mount it on the steering column due to it blocking several warning lights.

+1 lol. Mine straddles to the left some intead of sitting directly in the middle of the speedometer. It just rests there, no velcro or anything.
I think the lights it blocks are the blinkers, headlight/foglight/high beam indicators and the low tire pressure icon. I don't need those!

Seems to work fine though. I would avoid anything to do with airbag alterations, or anything in that area.
Watch the cable when installing, mine was making a slight tapping noise under the steering wheel housing area, drove me nuts. Wrapped the cable in cotton tape, no noise now.

Craig,
Thanks! That's the approach I will take. Did you mount it around the mirror stem or on the screws of the mirror mount? (can't get at the photos.)

craig,
how did you run this down the a-pilar? is there any risk of mucking up the airbag? I totaled one fit already and the side airbag saved my head for the window...
as a side not, the sgii is only 135 on amazon with free shipping. about to pull the trigger...
