My run in with a gas-guzzler!
So, there I was minding my own business at the In-N-Out parking lot looking for a parking spot.
An SUV pulls up behind me and slows. I notice a spot immediately to my right and decide to back up and sneak in. I check my mirrors and notice the SUV is stopped behind me and I have plenty of room in my little car so I start to back-up.
I back up some more and the SUV starts freaking out and honking at me! By this time, I have enough room to make that tight turn (love this car!) which I'm sure the SUV didn't expect and I proceed to take the space.
The SUV roars off. :-) I totally blowfish'd that SUV!

oh yes parking in the Fit, i love how you can park completely crooked and still have a foot of room on each side! while morons in chevy tahoes have millimeters when perfectly strait, trying to park other cars just blows, even the current gen civics are like parking a tank compared to the Fit i just love how our cars go where ever we want!

Anytime I run errands I always try to take the Honda. Taking the F150 is a chore. I don't understand these people driving the big trucks and SUVs. Last week, My wife and I went to Taco Bueno and some dude had DOUBLE parked his big dual wheeled F350, with the engine running in the handicapped space (no handicapped tags or plates). We went inside and could immediately tell who the driver was

In your case I wouldn't consider it fighting for a spot. It's not like the SUV was waiting to get into that spot. You just happened to miss the spot and then backed up to regain it (so I guess it kind of belonged to the SUV, lol).
You're lucky you didn't come back to your car to find a double-double in your exhaust pipe and animal fries smeared across your windows.

Just to clarify, I don't think the SUV wanted the spot, they were just afraid I would hit them even though I had plenty of space. I think they couldn't see that I didn't have a trunk and freaked when I disappeared under their grill.
That is what I find the most ironic about the situation. They go first at stop signs because they think they're bigger and they'll just run me over.
But, I can out-manuever them anyday. I think the SUV went to the drive-through. If I didn't take advantage of this particular spot, I would have been parking out with the Truckers in the dirt.

Naw, no badass here. It was completely unintentional that they honked at me.
I think I just got a thrill out of it because I'm tired of being pushed around. I think a lot of people in my area have self-esteem issues and can't live without their large vehicles...

Parking the Fit in the city is awesome. I can squeeze into spots on the street most cars have to pass up. I almost never worry about someone getting up on my bumper, either. It is awesome. The only thing I fear is someone taking out a mirror - thank god they fold in!
