Seat Covers & Side Airgbags
Hey guys,
Just got my new Fit last week and I love it! I got seat covers for the front seats and noticed a small disclaimer about not using on seats with side airbags. Are the side airbags on the 2009 Sport Fit located in the door panel or in the side of the seat? Obviously I don't want to block the airbag in the case of a t-bone. Would love some info on the matter.

Seat Covers & Side Airbags
FWIW, I got seat covers that are supposedly customized for my '08 Fit. What they have is basically an opening where the side air bag (which comes out of the side of the seatback itself in my car) would explode out. That opening is then closed with velcro, which one assumes would part if the airbag opened. I'd think you could allow for this yourself either by making a cut and closing with velcro, or by cutting out a hole where your airbags would come out and seaming it around.

look!
If you look on the side of your seat it'll be obvious where the airbag is. Most reputable seat cover makers , I have covercraft, have cutouts that allow the airbags an escape route. Otherwise you'd be sitting in an exploding bean bag chair.
