Angry Jazz engine noise

I have a jazz automatic. At 6500 miles I noticed a noise at 1100 revs. This was only when under loar and in first gear. I went to a dealer. They tetsed it and eventually agreed ther was anoise. they said it was engine resinence. ther was nothing that could be done. I do not agree. Honda built a fine car and they build brilliant engines. So why cant this be fixed. Does anyone else have the same problem??

It most certainly can be adjusted and fixed. You should contact Honda UK if the Honda dealer won't honour the vehicles warranty. Dealers must be the same the world over.

what sort of noise you are talking about? high pitch whining noise? Tapping noise? squealing noise? Are you sure it is from the engine and not the CVT?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The noise I think is from the gearbox. At 1100 revs it gives a sound like the exhaust blowing. It omly lsats a moment. It is vey noticable in 1st and reverse gears.

Hi Tanker,

If you have the CVT you might want to check out this thread.

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-diy-repair-maintenance/3155-cvt-vibration-help.html

talks about several other Fit owners who have had a CVT vibration. Seems a transmission fluid change fixed it right up.

Also you can give it a read and see if your symptoms are similar.

Hi mate,

Thanks for the information. I have again contacted my dealer who have just had a supply of a new type of oil for the CVT. They are going to change the oil and see what the effect is. The technician who came out with me did hear the noise. If the new oil works the will also replace the oil in 2 other Jazz's who's owners have had the same problem. It seems to me that this is a known problem that dealers only sort out if people are persistant.

Thanks

Good to hear they are working on it.

Let us all know how it turns out after they run the new fluid through it.

And I wish your Fit a speedy recovery.

Hi mate,

No it was not this type of oil. they tell me my Jazz has the Honda oil. However honda have a new oil out which is designed to stop gearbox noiseaand clutch slip. I will know on friday when they do the oil change. Will keep all informed of the result..

Take care.

Pete
