Im pretty sure that the aveo is based on a Daewoo. Which would explain the craptacular handling.

its not based on a daewoo... it IS a daewoo.... chevy just re-badges them... i almost feel bad for the ppl who buy these Fit imposters.... why on earth would you take an aveo over a Fit? they are similarly priced....

The only car I ever slid/spun was my old Audi turbo I hit the turbo on a rainy hwy with bald tires. My fault.
I guess I've been lucky, or know my cars' limits, or just insist to get the best tires money can buy... I mean it is the only part of the car that actually makes contact with the road might as well go all out for that.

I've been renting cars till my car gets here, and I recently got stuck with the PT cruiser, the car skid on my at 30mph on a moderate curve. Overal I do think the quality of the pos cars is whats helping put them out of business.

I've gotten those comments a while now, and I dont even have the car yet.

I tell ya Chevy would of been out of business a long time ago but they do have a dedicated clientele (sp?). Some people I know will buy nothing but a Chevy even though alot of their cars are made in Mexico/Korea/etc. now.

i drove the aveo a few times at the GM Auto Show In-Motion. Basically a short auto-x course to test all GM cars and competetor cars. the aveo handles very poorly. it has so much body roll. the steering is numb and so is the throttle. it really feels like when they were building it they thought to themselves; "oh who cares, nobody who would actually buy this car knows any better."

The only thing sold with a Chevy emblem on it that is worth anything is their trucks, and maybe the Corvette (but I prefere other sports cars to this).

A Chevy Aveo (and Cobalt as well), make me wonder if people research anything before buying a car.

I drove a 2008 Cobalt for two weeks after I wrecked my Fit. What a letdown. The transmission howled after 45mph. It only had 20,000 miles on it.

I can't imagine the Aveo being as bad a mistake as the Yugo! Thank God my purchasing skills have improved!

most likely the driver was texting on his cell phone... most people blame the cars... but I've seen a beemer flip because he forgot to turn at a straight away.... he hit cones and then jerked the steering wheel to correct, and hit the divider on the US101 in San Francisco (near the airport's repavement project)

I blame drivers that aren't paying attention to the road, not the car... I like their cars, as "cute" as our cars, good on gas mileage considering what other american cars give.... I give it a thumbs up.

Yea are cars have a good suspension on them. U would not think that they would be so good by the cost of them and they are so light that is why they are so fun and don't need a lot of HP. Alot of people i work with are starting to get them do to how they like riding in mine and the MPG i get with the total cost of one u can't beat it

i hear ya, and that is a problem i see it often... but this guy had both hands on the wheel, i saw him trying to get it back together. unless he chucked his phone when it started to veer, that could be.

my guess is, it was a rental. or, he just got it. poor guy.

It is funny we have several Aveo's in this area and it seems like everyone behind the wheel of the Aveo really gives the Fit a look over. It really makes me slightly mad when people say my Fit looks like an Aveo or they say I saw an Aveo and thought about your little car- Yikes dirty words to a Honda driver
