Dang

Saw a TF White Fit today. It was dirty and beat. I was like ahh if that was mine it would be mint!! Then some fat guy came out of a store and drove it away. The front lip had damage. What a waste of a TF White Fit.

just a car

sometimes other things in life move up in importance and the Fit will become just another car.

Many people feel this is just a cheap car that gets good gas mileage. They are not freaks for this car, like we are. They are the people who will provide us with parts later on! But we can feel pity for them and sadness for their helpless cars...

It's hard for me to fathom that not everyone who drives a Fit will fall in love with the car the way I did. I mean, the colors it comes in, the way it drives, the cargo capacity, the useful yet slightly goofy personality it seems to have - how could you NOT love it instantly?? But tons of folks will buy the '09s just because they are small and cheap on gas, and practical because they are Hondas. No emotional attachment whatsoever.

I look forward to those people wrecking their Fits so I can score cheap parts down the road.

I don't get it. Would you really want used parts from a car that wasn't very well cared for?!?

Yes. Let's say a car gets completely smashed from behind and would cost too much to replace. The engine and any aftermarket parts in there would still be good.

And I believe any car you buy should have emotional strings attached. A car says a lot about a person. It's an extention of your personality. You ARE your car basically.

You don't take the parts that fail, you take the parts that are still fine from the car! Just like having a parts car on your property, that has problems in one area (like the electronics, for example) but still has usable parts like the engine, tranny, body, interior.

No one can ruin ALL the parts on a car!!!

You would say that. Ha ha. The tires would be OK if they were dried out. So there.

But it's a Honda, the last thing you need when you drive a Honda is a parts car!

That is unless you're talking about restoring one in thirty or forty years from now.

We might care for our Fits, but most others don't. The numerous door dings and scratches on my 08 are proof. People suck.

Yeah, well, stuff happens...other stupid people bang into you, for example. My '08 could get totaled from a crash and I would not be able to replace it with a new car, because I do not like the '09 body style. So if I could get parts to replace damage, that would be better. And stuff does go out over time - even on Hondas. We were always a Toyota family, and we had 2 Camrys at the same time. The window motors would burn out at about the same time. The antenna motor burned out on both cars. One of them lost the AC compressor which then burned out the alternator (installed in tandem). The other hasn't had that happen, but I am watching.

So you see, one can always use a parts car. Most of us don't have anywhere to put it, however.

bubble wrap lol I know it sucks to get dings and scratches, but think about the guys with Ferraris and Lambos that get scratched up and dinged just driving around from road debris and such. I'm sure 6 months to a year from now I'll get fed up with trying to keep this Fit in pristine condition, and go easy on the washing/waxing. Stuff is going to happen, cars get old just like people, they get hurt and die like people. Can't keep them looking young forever, it's just not natural!

Hey, it could happen. I've seen it in movies and stuff before. The Bourne Supremacy comes to mind. Right in the beginning. Man I love that trilogy...

I've had my vbp sport 07 since november 06. I keep it in such good shape. I never abuse it, or rev it hard. I have 6 dents and scraped front lip from careless people. If i catch these bastards i will push them through the window of their car. These heartless bastards need to be noticed for natural selection!

just because you have a car does not make most people enthusiasts of the car, that is the key difference between car and motorcycle owners (aside from haveing to put your feet down when you stop and getting wet in the rain). the majority of people just have a car to get them around, but some people do actually like their cars and treat them with respect.

It is strange. My last car I rarely washed, and ragged it out all the time. But with the Fit I actually keep a regular wash schedule and people always remark how good it looks. The car itself is just quirky and fun, so I have become an enthusiast. It's one of the first times I ever read about cars, looked at them, or anything else. Before it I just thought of them as getting me from "A" to "B".
