Actually its very bad. If you fail the emissions tests there's no one to help you. You don't drive.

I think he means if you get pulled over and they find a turbo or other non carb legal parts on your car... they cant send you to a ref.... hopefully its a fix-it ticket... but i bet its something worse now lol

It means if you get pulled over and you have non-carb legal parts, they'll will just impound your car instead of sending you to the state ref.

Actually I have no idea lol.

Yes this is not good at all. now instead of just geting a ticket and fixing the problem AKA switching the aftermarket pice with the stock one. Now u just get ur car imponded. Which would suck if u ask me.

You can see the same thing at Seal Beach.

*SIGH* So much for the governator...No budget for a month so far...how are we surviving? lol

It means that people will temporarily be put out of work. I guess this will also mean that you won't be getting $500 for selling the state your old car that repeatedly fails smog check since they can't pay employees.

Per the Governor's Executive Order issued on July 31, 2008 concerning the state budget, Referee and Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) Repair Assistance, and Vehicle Retirement services have been suspended until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Yes, yes they do...

Matter of fact, I've read about instances where the car passed emissions, but failed on the visual inspection because of some missing smog part. Replacing the smog part actually made the emissions WORSE, but the car went on to pass.

The cereal state. :P

ok so i found out a little more about this. from july 31st 2008 to july 31st 2010 there will be a moratorium (sp?) on all fix it tickets issued in the state of california. they discontinued the refs because they are getting ready for new, advanced machines that will be near impossible to trick. good news is no more visual checks. bad news, its gonna cost a pretty penny to hook ur car up to one of those machines so it can tell you that your car is illegal. so enjoy these two years of semi freedom fellas.

Maybe you americans can start parking your car at home and take the bus insted? Well, if there is no bus in your area demand one. Or train or other collective transport systems like the rest of the world are used to

Problem is public transport is very rarely on time (at least in my area) and is amazing overcrowded.

We will be fine. Over 60% (might actually be closer to 70%) of California's economy is based around the real estate industry and we all know how good that i......oh.....wait......never mind.
