I'll be going to 0w20 for my first change. Haven't decided on type yet.

For break-in I simply varied my rpms. Did a few 15 second 4000rpm runs up hill and a few 3500 - 4000rpm decelerations for 10 - 15 seconds.

The car had 23 miles on it when I bought it. I'm sure there was a few high'ish rpm test drives before I got it, which depending on your paradigm on break in, could be considered a good thing.

That's it.

I dogged the sh*t out of my car for the first 20 miles. From idle to redline and back down then back to 3k for gear change. The same went for the rest of the gears. Then I changed my oil and kept it below 3k until I hit 500 miles. Another oil change and then normal driving staying below 5k until I hit 1,500 miles. Now I drive it any way that I want to.

There are many people who will oppose this method of breaking in, but it has not failed me yet and I am at 19,000 miles and average 35+ MPG.

Also, I switched over to Mobil1 synthetic after 500 miles.

By the definition of the oil weight I agree but by the appearance and seeing first hand by changing the oil, I have to disagree. The 0w-20 is very thin. Even Mobil 1 claims fuel eco increase but only by like 2%:

What about...

What about if youre getting a MT but you're going to learn it on the car? Will it mess up your break in period really badly? Keeping in mind that the person might stall the car... and stuff

Been there, done that. The greatest danger is to the clutch set, unless the engine is revved over redline or the car gets out of control in other ways. The benefits of learning to drive stick far outweigh the costs.
