Went for a little road trip!
Yesterday was my mine and my wife's 2 year anniversery and we decided to go for a little roadtrip and take a bit of a day trip around to some of the local beaches/trails. Here are some pictures!
We left at about 10:00am and headed for the grocery store to fill the cooler in the back with some ice and lunch for the trip. On the road by about 10:30am.
We were originally just going to drive to a place called Jordan River, but ended up going another 150km's or so all the way to Port Renfrew up the back way to Lake Cowichan and then back thru Duncan back to Victoria.
Total trip was about 250km's. We got home about 9:30pm

Comming into Jordan River
Where we stopped and did some exploring in Jordan River.
We had some lunch there and then decided to continue driving cause we were having so much fun on the twisty roads. Found this road down to Sombrio Beach.
Path from the parking lot down to the beach.
Sombrio Beach, this is kinda how it always is in this area for weather. It's populour for surfing here...
The fit is going to need a bit of a bath after this little trip, here she is back up at a paved surface.
and no...not my beer can that was already there, picked it up and took it with us to recycle.
Eating icecream while driving thru Port Renfrew.
Wanted to take the wife down to where I used to camp in the area as a kid and discovered that in the last 5 or 6 years that they had paved what once was a really bad gravel road going up the back way from Port Renfrew to Lake Cowichan (where my wife is from), so we decided to see how far along it was paved.
Turns out it wasn't paved the whole way Was only about 3km's unpaved though so it wasn't too bad.
Back on paved road.
No pics of from Lake Cowichan back to Victoria as it's kinda boring and the wife drove that section and I didn't feel like taking pics :P
Enjoy!

haven't found any scratches yet, just took it nice and slow, no spinning my wheels or anything. Didn't meet any other cars comming the other way on either sections of gravel. The second section was very hard packed and was mostly just dust then anything.
As for the hand prints, they were news to me as well. Had no idea they were there until the dust showed them. Not sure where they came from.

that isn't the lakeshore...thats the Pacific Ocean
and nope no issue's, just had to be careful. I used to have an Integra that was WAY lower then this car is and took it everywhere, including camping at some of these beaches and the roads are better now then they used to be.
