I know people in their 20's will scream how much cooler it looks and I agree. What else did a BASE BUYER REGRET after getting a base?

 

I would think, (I own a sport) one of the biggest downfalls of the base is the lack of cruise control.

 

Not me. We bought two Fits and both were the base 5-speed manuals. By not getting the sport models we saved the $800 price differential twice. I am happy with the steel wheels, 4 vs. 6 speakers, no "body kit" stuff, and the like. I could possibly have used cruise control for one of the Fits. The first Fit will be a town car and the other will do more highway mileage. So far, however, I haven't missed cruise control one bit. So we found the base model to suit us fine. As an aside, we decided the second Fit should be another 2008, liking this model better than the 2009, and again saving close to $700 for both the price increase and the increased destination charges in effect now for both the '08 and the '09 models. And we are both much over 35.

 

I want cruise control and the magic seat but it's like $1,300.00 more. I $1300.00 worth cruise control and magic seat?

 

The seats are the same in both models. The sport gives you the body kit, fogs, 6 vs 4 speakers, upgraded radio, (mps aux input, more watts) bigger and bigger alloy wheels (15 v 14) so imo it was worth it unless you plan on upgrading all that stuff anyway.

 

my FitS is a surface road runner so i removed cruise from my car
when i did the steering wheel.

the main reason why i got the S is for the bodykit (aesthetics).
i dont use the fog lamps either all that much... nor the MP3
player input.

 

I got the LX which is between the base and sport in Canada.
It comes with mp3 jack, 4 speaker stereo, cruise, power windows, mirrors, locks and AC ect.
The only thing I wanted was the sport wheels which I should have by Friday.

 

Yeah I have the exact same. I love my LX. I would have liked to buy the sport but the cassh just wasnt there lol. I have a few things I want to do to my LX. Getting Black Alloys is high on my list as well.

 

I bought the DX - I couldn't justify the extra $2400 simply for Power Locks, Power Mirrors, 2 Extra Speakers, Air Con and Cruise to move up to a LX. That difference in price can pay for a lot of gasoline, insurance and maintenance, and I simply didn't feel there was enough value in spending the extra cash. When I ordered my FIT, I was told that Honda only expects to sell 5% DX, 85% LX, and 15% Sport in Canada. Most dealers won't even bring the DX to their lot, so mine was a special order. My wallet has been very happy.

 

I didn't think the cruise control would be a big deal for me but I am damn glad I have it now. I don't take a lot of long drives but the ones I do would be pretty awful without the cruise control. The seat/gas pedal creates an unnatural angle which caused my leg to ache during the first month I owned the car. I've since adapted and it doesn't bother me anymore in normal driving. But having my foot glued to the pedal for too many hours brings the pain back so the CC helps a lot.

 

Thats kinda funny, I bought the Sport and am glad I did simply for the looks. But I guess I could have saved a bunch since I already replaced the wheels, stereo, speakers, and really dont use cruise at all. I coulda just bought fogs and a body kit lol! Oh well trade in or resale value if that ever comes into play will probably add a little. Oh but I did get the paddle shifters, that would not have been easy to add, not that I ever use those either though.

 

I have not regretted buying the base model. I do miss the remote locks but will add soon at a modest cost ($70). The radio is fine, the tires seem to hold well (14" - cheap also). No regrets on buying the base. The sport was about $1300 more.
Still looking for a simple cargo area mat that works when the seats are down and up - any ideas?

 

i'm not over 35... but we have one of each. my fiance has an '07 sport automatic, and i have an '08 base manual.
we usually take her fit on the long trips since it has an automatic and cruise control.

i don't regret not having the sport. technically, the base model is slightly faster since it is 40 lbs. lighter weight. only about 1.6% lighter, but every little bit helps!

 

32 here... I don't regret the Sport purchase at all. Cruise Control was desired, mp3 plug wanted, the look sets it apart from most of the other sub-compacts, and the nicer alloy wheel. I wouldn't go back to the base for the price difference.

 

I bought the Sport for the body kit, spoiler, better wheels, better radio, cruise, alarm, fogs, and because the Base didn't come in BBP! I'm 47.

morganplus4, I use a moving blanket for a "cargo tray". I fold the seats down way too often to have a cargo liner with a lip on the front.

I am over 40 and would not have got the base in canada, the lx would have been ok but i prfered the additional equipment of the sport, the body kit the steering wheel and the aux jack. plus it just looks better

 

there is a lot more value to the sport

For the last 20 years all my cars have been "loaded". The Fit is no different. Once you get used to cruise, power windows and door locks, power mirrors, nice wheels, and etc. its hard to go back. As long as I can afford the top model of cars that I buy, that's what I'll get. Gotta have cruise.

 

I am over 35 and bought and LOVE the Fit Sport. The dealer only had the one Sport and 6 Fit (base) in stock. I'll admit I got it just for the cruise control, but now that I have it, I love the tires, the trim and even the silly spoiler.

And I got the 5-speed manual transmission.
