Yeah, I thought that was far away too...they could've made one for the next model year but no.......they have to drag it out...at least I might want another fit by then...

Seven model years away! That must be the next body style. I guess they didn't want anyone dropping dead working 20+ overtime hours a week trying to get it to work.

GM wouldn't mind >>>they'd just go for the quick buck!!

Is it worth it?
The other day I was at the dealer waiting for my Fit to get it's free oil change (dealership + free = you sit for 3 hours even though you had an appointment, but that's for another thread) and I decided to do a little research. With my cell phone, I made a few quick calculations from the information posted on the Civic and Civic Hybrid windows.
This doesn't include tax or any surchages. It does not include maintenance costs either. And I might be going about this all wrong, but....
Civic sedan base model: $15,010 Top MPG 34/highway
12,000 miles/year = 352.9 gallons of fuel @ $4.00/gallon
Total cost $1411.76
Civic Hybrid base: $22,600 Top MPG 45/highway
12,000 miles/year = 266.67 gallons of fuel @ $4.00/gallon
Total cost $1066.67
That's a savings of $345.09/year. The cost difference between the two vehicles is $7,590. So, dosen't that mean you don't really SAVE money until you've made up the cost difference between the two models, which will take approximately 21 years.
Of course, if the Fit Hybrid only costs $2000 more, it'll be easier to make up the cost.

Please forgive my stupid question, but what mileage are they forecasting for the Fit Hybrid? They would have to be in the mid 60s per gallon to make me want to get into one. I haven't done worse than 39 MPG with my non-hybrid Fit yet! Besides it would be based on a facelifted version of the 09 which I personally don't care for, inside or out.

WSJ is also reporting Fit hybrid is not coming until the redesign in 2015, and then not the US? Hmmm i'm surprised.

I remember watching Back to the Future 2 for the first time in '90 and wondered if they would have flying cars in 2015 like in the movie.
