What about performance mods?

teh gas gauge isn't PERFECT. you could have 7 gallons at the "halfway" mark and 3 after that or vice versa.

I think it just seems that the second half goes faster because the gas light will turn on at between 8.5 8.75 gallons...
which makes us feel like we need to fill up, even though we have nearly 2 gallons left. that means that we basically drive off of 8.5 gallons...
the first half being 5 gallons and the second half being 3.5. The first half really does get better gas mileage because we use the entire first half... 90% will not use all of the second half.

it seriously goes off at 8.5 gallons?
so i could get in another 50 miles maybe?
DOH!

probably 50+ more. Yeah one time my gas light went on during school. I made to trips (30 miles for both ways on one trip) and I still made it back... although, i was drafting off a truck on my last trip back, sweating bullets, hoping that i wouldn't run out... but i made it. lol

I would say it's pretty damn close to perfect if you read my other post. if it's off, then it's off by a small margin... no more than half a tank

Ive put almost 80miles one time after my light turned on. I wanted to test it out.
Ended up putting in 10.3gal that run.
I noticed my gas light comes on a lot later now too. Ive refilled 3 times just after the light popped on. Put in around 9.3gal.

Yeah I've noticed that too. It comes a bit later and later each fill up
Not compared to the numbers Matt was laying down. lol but i still think it's not that big.

Guys thanks for all the replies. I am driving completely stock, 45 mile round trip daily, 90% interstate. I pulse and glide with Fas even on the highway. My best tank so far has been 44 mpg, based on miles driven divided by gallons filled. As I have gotten better at the techniques, each tank has done better. I was just asking to see if there was some mechanical advantage. Interesting stuff. I may have to do the CAI and see for myself. After all, I can always put the stock airbox back on if I'm not happy with it.

Filled up tonight. Heres me update.
9.088gal, 312miles to the tank. 9gal is probably the lowest Ive put in my Fit in over a year. I was surprised.
34mpg on the stock airbox. Before Id average 35-36mpg.
1-2mpg can easily be changed with driving habits.
