locking gas cap

Carl, can you post up the steps you took? I'm sure this has/will happen to someone else and having the directions to put it back together might help someone else out. It's a collective mentality kind of thing. The Mods might even immortalize you by putting a sticky on this thread for all future Fit owners to ooh and ah over! Maybe in a few more months I'll (my wife) will have one and I too will be able to be of assistance instead of a nuisance around here too!

I purchased from Conicelli Honda and they were quite helpful.
You place a key in the lock assembly and align the form of the bottom of the lock and the form in the gas cap and push hard. When you hear a click, it is engaged. It took me a few attempts to get it, but I got it.
Nice product.

If I remember correctly, there was a disadvantage to using a gas locking cap. I don't remember what it is, but could someone refresh my memory as to what the benefit of the stock cap is? I think it has something to do with some sort of sensor/recognition system

Is it really plausible for someone to siphon gas from a fit? Isn't the gas tank all the hell the way under the front seats? You'd need to be carrying a long hose. Also, I've heard many cars have restrictors inside of the filling pipe that a hose can't get around. Anyone know if the Fit has one?
