Question Pre-Orders for the 2009?

So, has anyone here in the states pre-ordered their 2009 Fit? I heard that pre-orders/waiting lists would start in the first week of July. Any "new" info from the dealerships? I plan on calling this week. I'll post about it if there's anything worth mentioning...

2009 Pre Order / Navi question

I have put a deposit down on a 2009 Fit. They asked for color preference, transmission and model (base/sport).
I was already 4th on the local dealers list, Denver CO area.
They quoted me MSRP.

I also requested Navi.. which I am having second thoughts on. Any opinions on this option? I think they quoted ~$1800 for this. Is this the latest navigation technology? Will it be obsolete in a few years? Will it help in resale value?
What is bundled with this? Navigation/XMRadio/VSA.. anything else?

Is this the same system that has been in Honda Vehicles for the past several years?
Anyone with first hand experience with this system?

Thanks in advance

John

Honda/Acura NAV Blows. Depending on whether its touch screen or not.

Guiding through Nav with a knob is no fun.

and yes ... i speak from experience ... see sig

p.s. -- i will be going with 2009 Taffeta White Sport 5mt with NO nav. Will be installing my own unit. Upgrades, including Touchscreen Nav Unit, speakers, etc... I am looking at $1000ish ... Much better then $1800 for a not-so-worth while factory nav unit.

Yes, resale is better, by why spend the $1800 in the first place? get your own nav unit, install it and use it, take it out when you are done, and use on your next car.

I never understood why any company would put navi in a budget car. Doesnt that defeat the purpose of being economical? especially when it is a 1800 dollar option. Just my 4 cents(inflation is a bitch)

I will be a little surprised if the final Nav option price is $1800 for the Fit since it doesn't have bluetooth and that is more than the Nav option in the current civic. However, in the Fit the Nav option includes VSA so it's possible.

Even so adding an option like that seems out of place to me. Maybe bc I am on a tight budget with everything.

I plan to get the 2009 Fit for my spouse as well, but I am not going for the NAV. Reason is at $1800, you can get a lot of selection, whether its Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer etc.

Of cos, you can still go for the factory Nav if you really dun wanna mod your car and leave everything stock... but then I'm just gonna say you are rich and lazy (for u can dish out 1800 for a stock unit and too lazy to get ur hands dirty and change the deck =P)

what is msrp for the new fit?

Want to know because my parents are going to get a fit around September and they are tossed up between 09 and 08.

I would prefer to have them have a 09 so they don't have an 08 like me lol....

Traditionally speaking you are 100% correct IMO. However, with current gas prices and the rush to purchase more fuel efficient vehicles, Honda is making the Fit more attractive to the new non-traditional "economy" car purchasers.

If you have an 08 already, go for 09~ if you dun have an 08, then... well... I dunno... cos I kinda have the same dilemma now.

I like the 09 cos of a few reasons:
Nice interior, more storage space, more stock HP, its NEW

But the 08 is still nice cos its more:
Cute (At least thats what my spouse and her girl friends think...), more round (bubble headlights)

So i guess you guys are just guessing the 1,800$ price tag on the nav upgrade since Honda has not released any nav pricing yet.

Factory OEM nav systems to me are worth the money, they usually have much better interfaces then aftermarket units(ive noticed). Also they work with the car better, as far as info that can be displayed on the screen.

We aren't taking pre-orders on the 2009 Fit yet. Anyone who is is merely cashing your check to earn interest on the money and get you to feel "locked-in" to their dealer. There isn't even any pricing information available yet. So for that reason we are holding off accepting deposits for the cars.

On another front, I don't know that navigation will be offered without the rear entertainment DVD system. I do know that one of the options my boss was asking about was the RES+NAV...we won't be ordering one the first time out of the chute. It's not an SUV or minivan...it's just a $20,000 Fit. (Probably)

I just put down a $500 deposit for a milano red 2009 fit with written terms that it's subject to price of the vehicle and test drive or full money deposit back. The dealer said if I don't want it for whatever reason they'll have no problem selling it.

Question Fit on order!

I haven't put a deposit down, didn't need to, found a great rep who we just traded our Pilot in with. I ordered a Blackberry Sport with no navi (I won't need it in this car, we have it in our CR-V which is the family car).

My question is about the new fake sunroof window thingy and AWD. The early spec's lists both of these as standard on the Sport model but my dealer is saying they can't order Fit's with those options yet, they are not available in the US yet. Is that true? Why? If it is true, anyone know when they WILL be available? I didn't care so much for the window thingy but really wanted AWD.

Thanks!

I'm a little lazy and didn't really want to spend my day reading 68 pages of comments to find my answer - I was hoping someone would be able to post something quickly and easily.

Neither option has been announced for the US market. Historically Japan hasn't offered expensive options here, as people would not pay big bucks for small cars. With higher fuel prices now, that could change. Did you know in the Japanese market, Honda offered an electric roof option on the Del Sol, USDM only got a manual one . Here's a video.
