Fit rear bumper protector? Does it work?

For anyone who has this, does it work? How thick is it? Is it textured? If you installed it yourself, how did the installation go? If it really does the job, I would consider installing them on my two Fits. Any photos?

uh...i guess it would help.

i mean isnt it just a pieve of plastic/rubber/vinyl?

one of those...i guess if you load a bunch of stuff in your car then in theory it should protect it.

I have one on my NHBP Fit because the first time I loaded a bike in the back I scratched the bumper right where the applique goes cause I forgot to put the kickstand up. It's thin, sure, but it's strong and it's made by 3M. It for sure will protect the bumper. It has a grippy texture, also. It's not hard to install, just make sure you clean the area well. It comes with an application tool so you don't get bubbles. Sorry I have no pics yet :[

I got a ***-ass garage knick on the back bumper so I'm getting the rear bumper appliqué for my 5000 to cover it up and to prevent shit like that happening again.

got one, easy install good material will protect you bumper against moderate dings, only downside is wax clings to it like a beast and it get very whit around the edges, tough to clean it off... rubbing alcohol works good fro that though. i highly recomend it

those things dont work all that well imho. my legacywgn came with
one from the factory and it's not so much that area that gets scuffed,
it's the very top edge of the bumper where it's not protected. lol

plus, it makes it that much harder to polish/wax that area cause you
dont want to get polish on rubber and stain it, etc.

just put a bathtowel or beach towel over the bumper when you're
carrying larger cargo. works better.

I installed this and then had to reposition it was more forgiving then I thought, when I finally had it right,a couple areas along the edge seemed to not stick I took a cordless iron covered it with a clean cloth, and very quickly smoothed it down. That worked perfectly and it still looks great after a year.Ditto on the white glaze where wax dries,so Thanks for the alcohol tip.It looks good thats why I got it.

I was sort of pissed when I got my car - becasue it had already been put on (I didn't want it). But I decided to leave it.

Since then - it's earned it's keep several times - mostly because of my dog. She claws the bumper getting in and out.

It looks and feels just like "Grip Tape" for skateboards - I bet it's actually the same stiff.

You make it sound like boards use some superspecial grip tape.

If you use turtle wax ICE you can put it ON the bumper guard and It makes it look great.Ice leaves NO white residue.

While it is better than nothing, I was hoping for something a little more heavy duty. I managed to rub through it in a couple of spots loading softball gear within days of installing it. Of course, the reason I got it was to cover up scratches that were already there from the same thing.

Personally, I think it's a piece of junk. I ordered it from Bernardi, but I haven't installed it. If you still want one for cheap, PM me.

It's basically just a piece of flimsy tape with a textured top. It provides about the same level of protection as Rockblocker film... maybe less since Rockblocker is thicker IIRC. Subaru's are far superior. Wish Honda's was like the one on my old WRX wagon.

As others have said, this applique is not much of a thing, with about 5000% profit built in. However, it does serve its intended purpose when, like myself and my wife, you tend to move scratchy things in and out of the cargo area, like a bicycle.

Yup, our Forester has a heck of a lot better bumper protector than the Fit. However, as I mentioned, the cheap one for the Fit does its job.

How good it works depends on if you are paying attention to what you are loading into the car. But since it doesn't hurt the car, its a good idea if you are looking into it.
