You need to see your dealer. There's no way local stations would sound crappy. Well, OK your ears might be the crappy sound if they are like mine. But even my crappy deaf ears hear my radio just fine.

Something else must be wrong. Our Fit has better reception than our other two cars. Are there any added electronics that might be causing interference?

Hmm...that makes me wonder if the antenna wire is disonnected from the HU or something. I think Honda's have a remote box for the antenna.

My reception improved significantly when I replaced the short antenna with a longer one from Toyota.

I think it was from a Matrix, but not positive. It has the same thread size and was plug&play.

You are quite correct. Despite my attempt at humor there is something wrong with your radio antenna. As someone else suggested you could have a disconnected antenna, Under the dash see if the connection to the radio is firm. They appear in the shop manual to be in the middle of the dash. I haven't heard more than a dozen Fits but their radios were all easily and distinctly heard.

Check to make sure the antenna on the roof is nice and tightly screwed down. I had the same issue, tightened it a bit and reception was better. For the hell of it I bought a different mast on ebay that was taller, reception did not change.

I assume you are talking about FM. If so I have the same issue, S**T. However my AM reception is better than any car I have ever had, and rivals my old Zenith shortwave portable for AM reception.

I got so sick of my crappy reception, it's one of the main reasons I went with satellite radio. Sucked. Sucked bad.

I suppose I will be using my Ipod and CD anyway more often when I have my license and I dont have to hear my parents complain, just wondering if there were any simple fixes that would boost my reception a bit.

1 month and 4 days!

Can you post a picture of your satellite radio installation/antenna? I'd like to see how it looks......my radio reception is okay, and I'm not quite ready to pay for radio yet...but DARN, the variety of satellite is reeling me in!! LOL
