AUX connection in all fit models?

AUX connection in all fit models?
Does anyone know if the 2009 base Fit model will have an auxiliary audio connection, or do you have to upgrade to the sport model? I don't want any of the extras that come with the sport, not even the fancier audio system, I really just want to be able to plug in my ipod, so I would not want to spend all that extra money on the sport just to do that. What do people do as a work around? I hate the FM transmitters and the cassette player adapters, so there must be some better way without upgrading to the sport, if that's the only way to get an auxiliary connection from the factory.
I have an adapter in my current car that converts the CD changer hook up (since I don't actually have the CD changer) to RCA connections and that was easy to install myself, but the base Fit model doesn't have a CD changer, so that won't work.

i believe its just the sport in the usa. you could always just get the base and get your aux port put in for around a hunred or so at a tint or audio shop. i personally would just get the sport ;] but as you stated youre not really into the sport so i would just take it to a shop, pretty sure its cheap. saw some guy gettin one in his truck when i was getting my tint done.

The HU in the base Fit has the CD changer port. I got the Aux port plus a USB mp3 player off ebay. Here's the link to my story:

It a standard Honda CD changer interface. I think I've seen is referred to as HON03. Double check to make sure I got the right reference though before you buy.
Honda appears to have a handful of standard interfaces they use on all their cars. The interfaces seem to evolve slow over time so they're not the same on all models.

Nice story with instructions Rob. I have an ipod already, so I wonder if there's something out there, like the USA Spec that will just provide RCA connections so I can save some money on the MP3 player part. Also, I have my ipod attached to my dash with a great (but expensive) adapter, so I would have to find some way to run the cable behind the HU or out the back of the glove compartment or something. If there's no hole, I could just drill one large enough to snake a stereo mini cable through.
I guess another option is just buying an aftermarket stereo with an AUX input. Does anyone know how easy that is to do on the Fit? Best Buy and Circuit City have free installation every once in a while on stereos, so I could just wait for that if it's tough.

You'll find lots of help in the Fit ICE forum regarding aftermarket HUs. You'll need a kit from Scoche or Metra to adapt the dash opening to a standard DIN or double DIN opening.
There are other interface units designed to plug into the CD changer. Some provide blue tooth, some provide full ipod control, others provide an RCA or aux plug interface. Prices vary considerably from around 80 to a couple hundred. If you went the aux plug route, you can still mount the I/F unit in the glove box and run a long aux cable behind.
Another solution described in detail on the aux forum is to attach a stock aux jack to dedicated pins on the back of the HU. The stock aux jack uses a separate plug on the back of the HU. If you're willing to put a little time it, it can be done for cheap. See here:

cant you just get an aux port and drill a tiny hole near the power spot like the sport model, install the aux port, wire it up and call it a day...? ive seen this done on several cars(not the fit but i dont see why this wouldnt work) it would be a lot cheaper than getting a whole nother unit wouldnt it?
