does it hurt your mpgs

That sounds about right. It's about 380 miles there. I got 37.9mpg when I went to Nashville and back. If I had filled up completely before leaving (I already had 40 miles on the tank), then I'm pretty sure I would have been able to get to Nashville and back on one tank =)

Oh, highway speed makes a big difference in MPG. You'll be in VTEC either way, but I would try to stay between 65mph and 70mph. When I went to Nashville, I cruised at 75mph to keep up with traffic. You may have to, too. But if you get chances to, do cruise at 65-70mph. Maybe you'll hit the 40mpg mark!

44.3 MPG on a trip to Knoxville
I got my highest MPG tank ever on a trip there.
But I came from the east of there, in NC.
I kept my cruise between 65-69 the whole way, with the A/C on.
It included about 20 mins of idling in stop-n-go traffic too!

BP I presume is it.

VTEC will engage between 2200 and 3400 RPM, it all depends on throttle position.

Oh okay, nothing like the good ol B series motors. Didn't expect that as this car was made for fuel mileage, not track performance, however it does hang well in the corners compared to a lot of other model hondas I have driven..stock.

Just watch out for uphill situations when using cruise control. It likes to surge the RPM when going uphill. But on leveled ground, it does a good job of holding the throttle still. Also, it seems like the ignition system works better with cruise control on leveled grounds.
Also, cruise control is used for cruising, not accelerating so keep in mind that if you're under the speed you desire, cruise control will open throttle to desired speed. But you can use the cruise control to accelerat/decelerate 1 mph at a time using acc/dec buttons after reseting the cruise speed.
